Exploration of Hien Island
Hien's history starts with explorers who had been exploring the Black Sea. The seafarers had been trapped in a heavy thunderstorm and lightning struck their ship stranding them on the shores of an island in the middle of the Black Sea. The travelers where amazed at the beauty of the island. Completely uninhabited filled with greenery and surrounded by crystalline ocean filled with fish and other sea creatures. So instead of building a new ship the explorers decided to settle the island. They built a small fishing town called Kyen while others searched out the island for game and other wildlife. Far north on the island they had discovered an iron rich mine filled with a mysterious ore they called Damask Steel. The settlers began to mine this steel and forge all things possible out of it. Slowly the small settlement grew into a decently sized city. The settlers started moving closer to the center of the city where they started with the construction of their capital city.
Completion of Early Hien
Not very long after settling the seafarers slowly moved inland towards the center of the island and began construction of the capital city. With tools made from the mysterious Damask Steel the construction went smoothly and very quickly. Within twenty years the capital city had been completed. Although completed the travelers were leaderless and choose to establish a democratic form of government for the city of Hien. Eight leaders where chosen to make all the decisions of the settlement.
The Black Storm
The people of Hien prospered for hundreds of years until one day when the clouds began to change. The Black Sea began to churn and became extremely violent. The small fishing town of Kyen had been washed off the shores and devoured by the Black Sea. As if cursed by the Gods massive tidal waves crashed against the rocks and slowly began to swallow the entire island. Frightened by the Sea the settlers ran back to their newly built ships and left the island returning to the lands of Karau. But some settlers stayed. The Yammura Family had remained. The Yammura Family had always prayed to the Gods and saw this as their wish come true to make the island into a beautiful paradise. So they reclaimed Hien and pronounced themselves as a Shogunate. The first Shogun was named Daimyo Kurosaki Yammura.
The Second Shogunate
The First Shogunate ruled Hien for one hundred years. And soon after the death of Daimyo Kurosaki, his eldest son Yamichika was named the second Daimyo of Hien. During the reign of Daimyo Yamichika he expanded the lands of Hien to also incorporate the Damask Mines as well as the port where the old city of Kyen used to stand. Almost all the lands on the island now belonged to the Yammura Family, all but the northern ports. During the final years of Daimyo Kurosaki new settlers had started to inhabit the northern parts of the island. They were travelers who had returned from Karau to reclaim Hien for themselves only to find that Hien has been taken control over. But instead of trying to invade and attack the ones who inhabit Hien they instead decided to build a new settlement on the northern side called Kariyushin. From there the return settlers formed their own family and watched over the Yammura Shogunate looking for an opportunity to retake Hien from them.
The Kisjetai Family
On the northern border of Hien lay the newly built city of Kariyushin where the greatest family of the return settlers established their own shogunate. The Kisjetai Family where the first to hold control over Kariyushin. Their Daimyo, Kenshiro Kisjetai was a very evil and vengeful warlord. Under his reign the Kisjetai Family nearly lost all credibility with the entire city. Kenshiro was asked to step down and his younger brother, Kirimura was asked to fill his brother's position as Shogun. Kirimura held the title of Daimyo until his death when his eldest son, Kira ascended to the rank of Daimyo. Under the reign of Kira the Kisjetai Family got involved in a few land disputes with the Yammura Family but each time the Kisjetai Family was driven back to it's borders due to lack of Samurai. But with each defeat the Kisjetai started to adapt to the military tactics of the Yammura Family until little by little the island was literally divided in half between the two families.
The Great Samurai War
With the establishment of the Third Shogunate of the Yammura Clan the border disputes between the two families had reached a bloody stalemate. Until the reign of Kurenai Yammura who began training Samurai on the art of the Yamigata and bow and arrow. After fifteen years of heated disputes over the border line Kurenia began to mobilize his forces towards the border to try and keep the peace. But the Kisjetai Clan had other intentions. After the death of Kira, the Kisjetai family had to choose a new Daimyo to replace Kira. But Kira himself had no offspring so they had to make due with Kira's first cousin, Yatsutoshi. But unlike Kira, Yatsutoshi had no experience in combat and was facing all out war with the Yammura Clan. But after a few days the conflict began to escalate even further until finally Kurenai had declared open war on all of Kariyushin. The first few conflicts Kisjetai had won since they knew all the ins and outs of the Yammura tactics. The battles lasted for months until Kurenai's elite unit was dispatched. The Shadow Edge sweeped through the battlefield eliminating any obstacle in their way. And after a year Kisjetai had lost the battle and was forced to sign an unconditional surrender pact. The conditions listed was for the Kisjetai family to leave their city of Kariyushin and return to Karau and never return to these shores.
The Fourth Shogunate
Soon after the Kisjetai Family was forced to leave Kurenai fell ill and could no longer act as Shogun. Kurenai's brother Enzo was promoted to acting Daimyo. But soon after the ceremony Kurenai died in his sleep of Scarlet Fever and Enzo was named permanent Daimyo. Enzo's first order of business was to unite Hein and Kariyushin which now had been named north Hien. Now with the unification of North and South Hien, the Yammura Family controlled the entire island. But with the departure of the Kisjetai Family something new appeared on the island. Some called these beings "demons" crossed over from the other side and began to appear at nights throughout the kingdom. People began fabricating stories about these "demons" saying that the lands had become cursed after the Great Samurai War and that the Yammura Shogunate was responsible. The Shadow Edge was dispatched to clear up the rumors but each time they battled these fiends none of the samurai had come back.....Alive that is....The samurai became corrupt and blood thirsty and began to attack their own people.
The Destruction of Hien
Soon the entire kingdom of Hien fell into chaos until the last Shogun of the Yammura Clan rose up to defend his city. One by one Elokai took on these "demons" and one by one each one of them fell by his sword. After a few days Elokai had regained control of Hien and the people where once on his side again. But one fateful night one of the "demons" visited Elokai in his dreams and foretold his fate. Elokai would join them as their greatest Demon Swordsmaster and set the entire island ablaze. He will drink the souls of all the fallen there and leave the island. For the "demons' hungered for something more......The power f Byakko, the White Tiger. Soon after the dream had ended Elokai woke in a cold sweat and slowly slipped into paranoia. And within in his parania the "demons" slowly whispered into Elokai's head driving him insane until he picked up his sword and slaughtered everyone in his court. Elokai moved through the streets of Hien and slaughtered anyone he could find all while setting the entire city of Hien ablaze. And by morning after the embers had died down almost the entire island had been reduced to cinders. Soon after th destruction Elokai chartered a ship and left the Island of Hien heading for Dorter Port across the Black Sea.
