I was sitting on the porch steps waiting for my best friend, Bells. “Hey, Rosie!” Bells greeted me getting out of her car. “Hi!” I got up from the porch steps walked over to her and gave her a quick hug. “So what’s the emergency?” Bells asked. “You know that house that my big brother used to dare people to go into?” “Used too?” She rolled her eyes. I ignored her comment. “Well, you know that new kid?” “No. There’s a new kid?” “You don’t get out much, do you?” “No, so who’s this new kid?” “His name is Andy Boore. He just moved here about a week ago and my big brother, Mike, is going to dare him to go into that haunted, creepy, old house down by the river.” “And what are we supposed to do?” Bells asked without a concern of what my brother did or Andy. “Get to Andy before Mike does, or the other away around. Either way we have to stop them from letting them bump into each other.” “Okay, do you know where Mike or Andy are?” “No.” I sighed. “I’ll go check around town and you can go to the haunted house.” “Why do I got to go to the house?” “Because I know this town better than you. Plus you can drive. Me can’t...yet.” “Fine,” She didn’t bother arguing . “Call me when you find them.” “Will do.” I started to run down the block looking up and down the ally ways, the back road, and the main roads. I was out of breath by the third alley way I went thru. I couldn’t find any of them. I was more looking for Mike then Andy, because I knew Mike more and where he usually hung out. Every time I would ask somebody if they saw Andy Boore or Mike they would say no. I took out my cell phone and dialed Bells phone number. It rang three times until someone picked up. “Hello?” said a male voice. It was Mike. “Give me back my phone!” I heard Bells say in the background. “Hey Mike. Can I talk to Bells?” “Why? Why not me?” He asked, playfully. “Because I don’t have any question for you.” “Now why don’t I believe that?” I guess he knew what we were up too. “Please?” I pleaded. “She wants you.” I heard him say to Bells. “Sorry about that.” Bells apologized while punching Mike in the arm, hard. “Ow,” I heard him say. “No worries. Where’s Andy?” Not here...yet.” “Good.” “Did you find him?” “No!” I said disgusted. “Hey, what does Andy look like?” “How would I know?” Bells said impatient. “Sorry. I just wish I knew what he looks like, it would be easier to track him down.” Bells laughed at me for not knowing I mostly knew that type of stuff. “Look all I know is that he has blue eyes. Every girl here is talking all about him. Well, only his eyes.” Bells chuckled. She still couldn’t understand why girls drooled over random boys even if she was 16 going on 17. “Oh, yeah that narrows it down a lot!” I said sarcastically. “There’s your sarcasm.” Bells pointed out my bad habit. “Sorry, okay. I’ll be right there in about.” I looked at my watch. “45 minutes.” “See you when you get here.” and then I heard a click. “Nice talking to you too.” I said to myself. I started hitch hiking up to the old house. I got there ten minutes later that I said I would be. “Sorry, I’m late.” I said to Bells when I arrived. ‘You better be sorry! Andy already went in!” “Why didn’t you stop him?” “I tried. He’s stubborn.” She crossed her arms to show that she was mad. “Where’s Mike and his buddies? “ “They went to get a drink or something.” “How long has he been in there?” “Awhile.” “Hopefully he survives.” The last kid who walked in there went thru three floors, head first. He bled out and died. Mike didn’t get into trouble, the police said that the boy shouldn’t have been in there in the first place and they didn’t press charges on anyone. “So what does he look like?” “Blue eyes of course. Dark hair almost black. He’s got a fine tan too. Also he has a birth mark on his right arm.” After Bells finished her sentence there was a loud crash that came from inside the house. We ran into the old house, we watched out step so we didn’t fall threw the porch. I opened the creaky, old door. “Andy!” I yelled into the house. “Help, I’m stuck!” Andy pleaded returning my plead. “Where are you?” Bells yelled this time. “It looks like a dining room.” He yelled back. “Okay, we’re coming.” Bells yelled at him, and then said to me in a quieter tone. “Follow me.” We walked through the living room into the kitchen and into the dining room. It took us awhile to get through the rooms because the rooms were so huge and we had to watch our step so we wouldn’t fall thru the floor, and the ceiling just incase something would fall thru. We finally got him. His leg was stuck under a whole bunch of pipes. I looked up, there was a big hole. The room looked like it was bathroom. We started grabbing the pipes, most of them were sharp and heavy. But we managed to lift the major and some minor pipes off his leg so he could get his leg out. Thankfully non of the pipes went into his leg. “Thanks.” He said when he got his leg out from underneath the pipes. “No problem.” We both said at the same time, like we did it everyday, but we didn’t. “Do you girls do that a lot?” “Do what?” We both asked together. “Talk at the same time like that?” “Maybe,” I answered alone. He chuckled and stood up. “Whoa...your tall!” “Oh yeah, he’s also tall, too.” Bells chimed in. I rolled my eyes. “Are you done talking about me?” This time Andy spoke. “How long are you supposed to stay in here?” Bells asked. “Until I go thru every room, then I can go back outside.” We all heard the front door close. “Please, tell me that was the wind.” “That was the wind,” they both said to me. I sighed in relief letting out a small chuckle. Then all of the old, yellowish, ripped shapes were being pulled down covering all of the windows, and then I fell silent, eyes wide. “Screw the dare! We got to get out of here.” I said urgently. Everyone started to move to te closest exit, the front door. All of the windows were latched up tight and no one was brave enough to get close to any of the windows. Cold air rushed thru my skin, my teeth started to chatter. At first I thought it was the two ghosts that haunted the house making the chattering noise, or Andy, or Bells. But then I realized it was me when I couldn’t feel the cold air anymore and the room got quiet. When I was about to step over a gap between four floorboards the ceiling crashed down on me. I collapsed on the floor with ceiling tiles covering me, and everything went black.
