“because, in my heart’s eyes, you will always be home.”
“I don’t understand, Michiko,” brown eyes stared up at her friend, “what do you mean you’re going to make them fall in love?”
“Exactly how it sounds, duh!” The curly-haired female responded brightly.
“We’re going to make them fall in love, then we’re going to take that love away, and make them pay!” the third female chripped, smiling.
Brown eyes stared at the twosome with half-lidded eyes. “Oh?”
“Yeah!” the pair said together, tiring of their friend’s constant doubt.
Standing from her slouched position, the brown-eyed, black-haired girl stretched, and looked at her friends once more, “Well, all right, but if you two get in trouble, don’t drag me into it, okay?”
Michiko and Asuka, the third girl, pouted.
“Seriously, you guys. You know how I feel about things like this. Besides, we all know those four hotshots don’t love just anyone… well, maybe Ryou, seeing as he’s had several girlfriends, and maybe Minoru. Then again, Rokuro flirts a lot, so maybe he’s a man-whore, and Shou has been-”
“Woah, woah, woah!” Michiko said, covering her ears.
“TOO MUCH INFO IN TWO SENTENCES. TOO MUCH TOO MUCH.”
“Asuka, Michiko. You two are kunoichi, and you’ve stood through mission debriefing, containing lots of gore, blood, sex, rape, and all sorts of horrible, horrible things, over four hours long without a single peep, and you start yelling because of I was saying that Ryou, Minoru, Rokuro, and Shou are…” Suddenly, her eyes darkened a shade, and she quickly cut herself off. She scanned her area she could, and did a scan behind her.
The other two also paused, and let their eyes switch from either side of their perpherial vision.
There were three people surrounding them.
“…well, anyway,” Asuka continued a second after, catching more eyes than just Kasumi’s and Michiko’s, “I gotta go. I promised my mom I would make dinner tonight.”
The other two nodded, and performed the hand signs to poof away. They had unknowingly left Asuka behind.
They were supposed to be together. They were friends, had gone to school together, and had gone into the same profession together. They were Fighters - assassin, warrior, and healer. Though each went into her own category, they were still Fighters nevertheless. They lived in a world, a bit different from our own, but still tied to us with a red thread.
Their face looked like ours. The colors did not.
Yellow, sunny eyes, green, marvelous green hair. Black/blue eyes, no shine black hair.
Light, muddy water brown, off gray, shiny bling hair.
They didn’t match at all in personality or in their reasons for being who they were. But they still stayed together: hoping they could someday mash hard enough to become real friends and people and adults and Fighters and girls and maybe women and really real entities.
They were meant to fall in love with the one they meant to be with at the age of seventeen and a half. Fate said they would love the ones she had choosen for them. So young, so young…
friends forever, friends together, friends whenever, friends whatever, friends, friends, friends…
“You guys can come out, you know. Michiko‘s not here to bite your head off, and Kasumi… well, she‘s not here either.”
Slowly, the sound of rustling leaves came to the wavy-haired teen girl as a group of boys appeared out of the bush.
“Sato-san,” one of the boys began, “were you and Kuroki-san serious about that plan…? I mean, that was pretty harsh planning between the two of you.”
Asuka waved him off. “Please, Shou. Michiko and I joke all the time about evil plots to destroy you guys. Don’t take it seriously.”
“Well, we kinda have to, since we’re kinda well,” Shou pointed out, “intersted in you.”
“W-Well,” Asuka couldn’t hold down her blush, “I’m the one who has to hide it from Michiko-chan and Kasumi-chan! Do you know how hard it is to keep it from Michiko? She’s my best friend! This is the only secret I have from her! And hell, Kasumi doesn’t even have to try! All she would have to do is look at me sternly, and I would blurt everything out without a second thought!”
“Well, try harder!” another voice said sharply.
“Shut up, Minoru. I’m doing you a favor by doing this for you, so don’t push me.”
“Ugh, whatever.”
“And besides, you guys haven’t even told me whom you’re interested in! I can’t play matchmaker when you won’t even tell me who to match you up with!”
“You don’t need to know yet, Asuka.”
“Oh, don’t worry, Ryou, I already know who you like.”
“W-What! No you don’t!” Ryou snapped, a pink hue flushing his tan face.
Asuka clicked her tongue playfully. “Hahaha, I have my ways. Now I just need to figure out you two,” she said, glaring pointedly at Minoru and Shou. “Cough it up. Michiko or Kaede?” Minoru’s face flared up, and he looked away. Shou simply stared at the tree in the distance, and coughed politely. Asuka shook her head, and asked again. “Michiko or Kaede?” Minoru didn’t move, but Shou’s lips tightened. Sighing, she placed her hand on her hip. “C’mon guys. If you want me to do this for you, I need to know who wants who.”
Scowling, Minoru muttered something. When Asuka asked if he could repeat it, he barked, “Michiko!”
“Michiko? Seriously?!” Asuka’s eyes lit up. Minoru just gave her a look of hatred, and he huffed.
Oh, it was so perfect! Asuka knew Michiko had a thing for Minoru. Oh. So. Effin’. Perfect. Turning her head, she glanced at Shou.
“And you, Mister?”
“…”
“Shou, if it‘s Kaede, just nod your head.”
Shou shook his head.
Asuka looked at him suspiciously. “No?”
He nodded this time.
“C’mon Shou, don’t lie to me. Who is it, if it’s not Kaede-chan?”
Taking in a breath, Shou looked at Asuka - letting his orange eyes do some of the talking for him. “It’s you.”
Once upon a time, in a land far, far away, in a place where time no longer matters, there lived a village.
The village was created through the millions of relfections made by the countless paralell universes. And somehow, these places with nothing in common were sewn together to create a hybrid world: Kagami. And though this world had no knowledge of their counterparts, they lived in peace… or so they thought.
Little did they know. Oh, how little did they know. Love can’t last forever when forever is slowly being snipped away.
snip… snip… snip…
“NO, MY BABY! SHINOBU! OH GOD, NO, STOP-”
“Mama, I feel cold. Where are you, Mama? Mama!”
“The darkness has come for our souls!”
“Why is God doing this to us?”
“STOP, MY HUSBAND-”
“-GET OUTTA MY WAY, I WANNA LIVE!”
“SHINOBU!”
“MAMA!”
“Wait for me, Yoriko!”
“Miyu, hurry!”
“HONEY, JUST GO ON WITHOUT ME.”
“TAIRO!”
“I feel so cold…”
“Where is everyone?”
“IT HAS COME FOR US. IT HAS COME. WE ALL-”
“THERE IS NO GOD.”
“…cold…”
“SHINOBU, NO! MY BABY-”
“MIYU!”
“YORI-”
“- MUST -”
“OH GOD, DON’T TAKE TAIRO FROM ME!”
“I WANNA LIVE!”
“Mama!”
“OH GOD, SHINOBU!”
“- DIE.”
“…I’m so cold…”
Someone was beginning to cut away the ties Kagami had made and needed to continuing existing. And slowly - slowly - that person made the world of Kagami fade to black. The outer limit faded first, giving way to a cold, dark, and lonely form.
Away he went, tying Kagami’s fate to faithlessness.
hello mr. death, we’ve been expecting you…
It was dark. One moment they were training in the same field, and now all they could see was black. And each other. It was also getting cold. Very, very cold. Echoes sounded whenever she or Minoru took a step, and the sound just went on and on and on and on. And with every step, the echo grew louder and louder.
She wouldn’t say it out loud, but if it weren’t for Minoru’s voice, she’d be scared shitless.
“Where… where are we?” Michiko looked around, occasionally bumping into Minoru. She had make sure he was still there. Suddenly, when she leaned to the left to bump into him again, she felt nothing but air.
“I don’t know… but it’s really creepy in here,” Minoru’s voice said, but unlike before when he spoke, it echoed. Looking around, Michiko realized that Minoru’s voice didn’t have a body.
Hoping he was just hiding ehind some black object, she called, “Minoru, where are you?”
“I’m right here, Michiko. Right next to you.”
“No you’re not! I can’t feel you!” she said. Her right hand went to clutch her left arm, trying to stop herself from shaking uncontrollably. She was scared. The echoing of his voice continued, mixing in with her own. “Minoru, this isn’t funny! Where are you?”
“Huh? Wait, Michiko, I’m over here, you idiot!”
“What? I can’t hear you! What’s going on?”
“Michiko! Michiko, your arm!”
“Huh…?”
Her black eyes shrunk when she realized she could see right through her hand. Tears formed in her eyes when she spoke softly, “Minoru, I’m scared… what’s going on?!”
“Michiko! Michiko! MICHIKO!” But his cries went to deaf ears.
“MINORU!”
were we meant to be? i don‘t know, but it seems like love was out to get us.
“NO, MICHIKO!” Echoed into the night. Barely able to stand, Asuka winced in pain from her leg, not really knowing if it was twisited or just overly sore from the fact she had run several miles.
“Asuka, what happened?!” Shou appeared beside her, dragging an arm across her back, and hooked her shoulders towards him.
Her watery eyes looked at him, and she burst into a fit of tears. “Shou, she’s gone, she’s GONE! Oh God, Michiko, she‘s DEAD! MICHIKO!”
“Calm down, Asuka, what‘s going on?”
“Michiko, you idiot! And Minoru! They‘re dead! The darkness took them away! She had a mission, and Minoru followed her, and, and…”
Shou’s eyes narrowed, and his sights were redirected towards the black sky on the horizon. Gripping the shoulder in his hand tighter, Shou bowed softly. Minoru, you idiot. I knew you‘d do anything to stay with her, but why did you have to follow her to your death? With a small tinge of regret, he said into her ear, trying to soothe Asuka’s sadness, “It’ll be okay. Once we figure out who’s doing this to Kagami, we’ll get them back. Okay? Don’t cry.”
“S-Shou,” Asuka whimpered, “I can‘t. I can’t just sit back and wait while this thing devours our home! It took my best friend! I refuse - no! I have to find out! And if it won’t be me finding out who killed her, I’ll be helping that person myself! Argh…” Asuka squeezed her leg, not noticing the trails of blood driping from her ankle.
“Asuka…”
“Oh God, Shou… she’s really dead…”
Shou brought her into a hug, and held her, before glaring harshly at the distance. After stating he was taking her to Kasumi for healing, Asuka nodded. “We have to get away from here, all right?” She nodded again, her conscious slipping from blood loss. He picked up the dizzy girl, and sped towards the village.
He’d be damned if this thing ever got Asuka.
oh mirror, mirror on the wall, when is the time for us all?
-
I give up. I don’t know how this came to be in my head, but it did. I’ll probably reuse the characters because this plot sucks really badly XD
