Gah, Ms. Shugars isn't here again, we've got a Substitute, so I'm taking this opportune moment to do this entry, because of my inability to keep a journal on a regular basis. Schoolwork and time at home is making it difficult. Getting my s**t together, mostly, but I would still like to record my progress, since everything's starting to go swimmingly, so let's keep it that way, huh?
Home life has been going fine. I think Sophia's starting to teethe, or maybe she was just really cranky, because yesterday she blew a fuse or something, it's almost funny how she goes off on her cry, and I can always see Kelly or my dad and me trying to hold back a smile because we know she's exaggerating and losing her cool for nothing, but it still kinda hurts to see it. I should call my brother today, I haven't talked to him in a while, and I kind of miss him. It seems my dad is no longer holding any ill will towards me, I've been trying to make every instance we come in contact look positive, like mostly I'll make it look like I'm working hard, even though most of the time I am.
Yesterday, I spent about 3 hours re-typing my Government notes because we had a test today, and I needed to study. Let's just say it paid off, and everyone was jealous of the quality of them. Most people wanted to go run with the copier with them, because I typed them. But I gave Mr. Pauli my word I wouldn't let anyone near them like that if I got to type them, because at first he said the notes had to be handwritten, and I get them done so must faster and easier when I'm typing, and I think he knows that, because I always hand in my work typed, so maybe that's why he was lenient enough to give us an exception, and I so appreciated it. I didn't get time to finish my Algebra work, and I still need to type up some more of my Psychology work, because I'm still not sure when we're getting the test thrown at us.
Oh, about Algebra, I'm am happy to announce I have currently achieved A status. It's a 91.5%, but that makes it an A, so I'm not complaining. I'm hoping to make it even better, and I feel bad, because Tabatha and Amber aren't doing so well, so it makes the whole situation seem all topsy-turvy. I offered to help them with the work, sort of "tutor them", but it's not working out so far. I'm just trying to focus on the huge Chapter Test we've got coming up next week.
Web Design's going quite well, just been going over some pages to make sure everything's cleaned up and organized. I did get a new individual assignment though, I'm going to be creating a huge Link List for the site, so that there's tons of resources for you to use when you need help for something. I'm glad, because not only will this give me more credit on helping to build the website, it might be a plus to Jennifer.
I should probably explain that. I joined the Las Vegas Otaku forums about a week ago, so there'd be an easier way to get in touch with everyone from Anime Vegas and just Convention information in general. I posted up my profile and included all the work experience I have in the Web Development field, and it sort of piqued her interest, so she said if I could show her some of my work and get the heads up from Rich, I might be able to assist her in designing and renovating the convention website. I was really interested in helping her out in this, but I don't have much work to showcase, and my portfolio's not even close to being done, so I explained that when we get the school's site up in about a week, there might be something to show off. That's one of the main reasons I'm taking the Link List job.
I had a great weekend. As you may recall, the past Thursday was Sonja's birthday, and since she worked on it, she managed to get like 4 days off, so we had a little celebration planned on Saturday. Friday apparently she met with Brittany, and they're going to start taking classes to go learn how to fire-breathe. Sounds exciting, but of course I'm fearing for her safety, I just hope she has fun with it, I'm going to have to remind myself never to piss her off near a liquor store or gas station or any combination of the two.
Friday, I had made plans with Tony to meet him at the UNLV campus, and play some fighting games with him, brush up on our Capcom Vs. SNK. I had trouble getting there on time, stuff was up with getting to leave early, had to watch Sophia for a bit, plus there was the bus problem. I called him a bunch of times on his cell, but he wasn't picking up, I was supposed to meet him at like 4:00-4:30, and ended up getting there at like 6. I couldn't find him, so I looked around, and spotted the Information Desk, and I see Anthony working there, the guy who won the Naruto Tourney at the '04 Anime Vegas Convention. So he of course knows who Tony is, but he tells me he left a little while ago. So I tried reaching him one more time to apologize. No cell phone answer, so I ask Anthony if I can use the computers here. He lets me on with his own ID, because you need a School ID to use the computers. So I get on the Forums and PM him to apologize, and he's on, and he forgives me and we try to schedule something else next time. So I play some games for a little while, then I leave.
By that time, I'm hella hungry, so I go stop at Carl's Jr. for a $6 Burger. The cashier's name is Korwyn or something foreign, and I can already tell he's new, and he's having trouble getting people, because it's taking forever, and some of the customers are getting pissed, and so is his boss, who apparently is also taking the role of the restaurant Security Guard. So he's being harassed by that guy, and being threatened to be fired. And I'm just sitting there, wishing I could work up the courage to get those people to lay off him for God's sake. It made me worry again about how my life is going fine, but how people around the world can take s**t like that is anyone's guess. I just wanted to pat the guy on the back or something, so when he came with my order, I thanked him several times. I decided to pass on a milkshake though, because from when I got in there to when I left, the milk had been sitting out on the counter, so I wasn't taking any chances.
I contemplated why people have to have so many problems with everything, and can't just accept trouble sometimes. People need to get off their high horses or something. I ended up walking to Barnes & Noble, because through my reflection I thought of a great gift idea for Sonja. It was the Read or Die manga Volume #1. She'd been waiting for this one forever, because she loved the movie, and heard the manga wasn't much like the movie, that Yomiko had a boyfriend in this one and stuff. I was pretty squealy to see it myself, and I kind of cried out in joy at the sight of it and got a few looks. I also found her an undamaged Hot Gimmick Volume #5 There were several other regular books I saw, but I knew I needed to restrain myself, so I bought a Frappucino and went home. On the bus though, I did see Hacina getting off of work, so that was nice, we talked until I had to get off, then I waited forever in the cold for the Sahara bus to come. I said hi to Kelly, showed her Sonja's gifts, went upstairs to wrap them, and called Sonja to make sure everything was green. I told her about the suprise I had for her, then got some sleep.
Saturday though, we called each other early to discuss the situation. I got to IM Russ for a little while in the early of the morning, so that was nice, he needs to get some sleep though. We all did a huge joint three-way call and got the four of us on the phone together to get everything organized. So Josh got a ride to my house, Russell walked over here, then we hopped on the CAT bus and off we were to Sonja's. There was all this NASCAR stuff going on, so the buses were out of whack, and it took forever to get there. That, and the bus drivers were all in a pissy mood, the lady on Sahara actually almost drove off without picking us up. I gave her the finger as we were getting off and thanked her sarcastically for the nice ride.
The stop to Pecos was a whole other story. I didn't get most of what happened, because I was listening to Josh's iPod, but some old guy who was drawing on some paper in his lap caught Josh and Russell's attention. For some reason they got into a deep conversation, but I could see the guy was focusing on Russell, and it was getting awkward for him. All of a sudden, I saw the guy reach out and stroke some of Russell's long hair, and kind of play with it. I kinda sat there speechless, and me and Josh kind of ripped on him later for it, but it wasn't as bad until later, when as we were getting off the bus the guy handed him a slip of paper that had the guy's full name and phone number. Talk about creepy.
We got to Sonja's, but we didn't get to chat for long, because we were running on a tight schedule, and Russell had to be at work in a few hours. I handed Sonja her birthday present while Josh and Russell ate her Girl Scout Cookies, and I'm glad her reaction to the present was worth it. So we walked off to go eat at Claim Jumper, when who do we spot, but that creepy guy walking around the plaza. It went into a kind of horror movie moment, where you're barely getting away from the killer at the last moment, because we were praying for the crosswalk to turn before he got too close. We like powerwalked/ran our way to Claim Jumper trying to make light of the situation that it seemed the guy was following us, but when we made it to the parking lot, he kept going straight.
We had been telling Josh the way there about the huge portions Claim Jumper gives you, but he was still under the impression he'd be able to finish dinner and eat the rest of the Motherlode Chocolate Cake they serve. It's like six layers of chocolate orgasm piled sideways so it doesn't fall off the plate. The problem, like Sonja says, is that it's so rich it makes you drink a lot. I snuck a handful of Root Beer flavored candy at the counter and snacked on it while we got our drinks. Sonja was craving Mozzarella Sticks, so we split those as an appetizer, but there weren't that many so we each got 2 except for Josh, but they were big sticks, and he was playing with his, because with his fedora hat on and the big mozzarella stick in his mouth, he looked like a gangster with a cigar. We took a photo off his cell phone of it. Russell had the Chicken Tortilla Soup, and I was bumming it off him, and dipping my Mozzarella in it.
Sonja had her usual, Roast Turkey on Wheatberry, and Russell and I had the same thing we had last time, the Barbecued Chicken Sandwich. It's got like watercrests in it, and it's so good. Josh settled for a Club Sandwich, which sounded pretty wimpy, but I was soon mistaken. When it came out, no one said it was their sandwich, because it looked so huge, it was on its side and had like 4 toothpicks sticking in it. It became known as the "Accordion Club", and all hopes of Josh thinking he could finish that and a piece of cake by himself went out the window. We all sort of stuffed ourselves silly, but Josh still wanted to try for the cake, so we split a slice, and still didn't get through it. We ended up picking at it so much trying to take small bites, the end result was a big pile of chocolate picked at mess, that made us sick to look at it. I was the only one that actually finished my sandwich, in record time I might add. I felt pretty bad though, because Sonja ended up getting the bill because she got her paycheck, and we were poor snobs, and it was her birthday after all. Somehow, I gotta pay her back for it. She treats us too well.
We walked home hurting, but by then we were racing the clock and barely made it in time for Derrick to drop Russell off at work. Me, Josh and Sonja kind of just lolled about the house letting our stomachs take it all in, we still weren't up to snuff. We ended up watching home movies, and I walked off in a huff, because like almost everyone else, I can't stand the sound of my real voice when I'm on camera. Don't you just hate that, how you don't actually hear the real voice you protrude? I started to remember that we totally had missed Anime Vegas by now, and I felt like s**t, because I still regretted not going a little. How ******** selfish is that?
Somehow, we ended up in Sonja's room messing around, after we looked at web comics, we kind of watched Wedding Crashers, but we started wrestling, and it ended up into a 2-against-1 pillow fight of me and Sonja against Josh. We fought until we couldn't move, and then watched more of the movie, and ate the sandwich Russell didn't finish. We basically crashed and just mellowed until Marissa came home and got kind of mad because the living room was a mess. Sonja cleaned it up, and then Marissa drove me and Josh home. It took a while, because she took Josh home first, and he lives on the other side of the world, so I got home around midnight, watched FMA and then just passed out.
This week's been going fine. Just making sure I'm getting everything turned in, and hoping it's all good. Thanks for reading this if you did, I know it's a lot, it took like 2 class periods to write. sweatdrop
