As you know my Dog, Ginger. Got a few shots yesterday at the vet. She was behind on her shots and we're going to be bringing another dog in the house that will be interacting with about 20 other dogs at least two or three times a month. She got a few other vacciences in one shot all at the same time. She seemed fine by that one. But she as also behind on her rabies shot. She got her rabies shot and she came home around 5:30. Around 9:30 PM the same day she started to sort of groan. And shake. She's done that befor but it looked like her leg or rather thy--where she got her vaccanation in--was bothering her. It was so bad and I had to pick her up. She's normally a very jumpy dog. Me and my Dad were convinced she would be fine in the morning but she wasn't. This morning she wouldn't get out of bed.....at all. She was in bed until 3:00 PM. I got her out and she couldn't get off my bed or down the steps. I walked her around the house. She was doing well. She had a large problem with the steps though. Later she would just stand right in the middle of the floor like she couldn't even move. After about an hour of leaving her alone I lost track of her and where she was. I found her in my Mom's home office sleeping on the floor when she had her bed in the other room. And Mom wasn't even in her office. She loves to be with my Mom and Dad and I and uselly wants to be with us. She then couldn't get up. It was probobly a struggle just to get down and lay on the floor. She almost toppled over luckily I was there. Shes sleeping in her bed next to me now. I'm worried. VERY worried. What is odd is that the Vet never warned us about this kind of reaction. In fact he didn't warn us about a reaction period. She's laying in her bed. With ehr heating pad. Yes she has a heating pad. When dogs get older they need a heating pad. Now I know what your thinking! "She's old she might kick the bucket soon" Well I tell you she is right on her weight limit. 18.4 pounds and just turned nine in January and is healthy. She's sleeping. Her ears are relaxed thats good. When she gets upset she yanks her ears on top of her head so far I think they might switch sides! And don't tell me to google the problem. Me and my Dad did. No luck. I mean I found a lot f dogs with reactions to a rabies shot but nothing like the reaction Ginger is having. A website said something about trouble moving and almost falling but there was a lot of other problems too that the page was describing. Plus after I read a little more on the website I found out they were talking about Dobermans. The vet isn't in. I think they'll be in tomarrow but I have state testings. And My doggie needs me!!! I can't leave! Mom wont be there good chnace Dad wont be with her. She might get really sick we we're all gone! I CAN NOT leave her. But my Dad and Teacher and not to mention my grades with insist apon it. What am I going to do? By poor baby is sick....
Troubled thoughts.
The disressed proud Dog owner.
