CHARACTER!DEVELOPMENT: HARLESE FUJIMIYA
Age: 17 *when first created DOB: 5.25 Height: About 5'4 Nationalities: Half Japanese, half white
Bio: Born to Masu and Mariette H. Fujimiya, Harlese was born into the underground world. Her father is one of the most powerful yakuza bosses in Japan. Albeit being born in Japan, she was raised primarily in S. California with the few occasional trips to her birthplace for pleasure (a.k.a. shopping) and because her parents brought her along. Her mother's family, the Heist's, had a good grip on the underground illegal gun and drug trade for the Italian Mafia in L.A.
When Harlese was young, her father had his men secretly teach her how to operate machinery and weapons. She did so, as to please her father who treasures her greatly, on top of being a regular school girl at her private, rich school. She was also forced to take up self defense; she's adequate at this as well. Harlese was not very fond of learning any of this, and hated her family for a short period of time until her younger brother, Evans, was born. Harlese began to take her training a bit more seriously then, determined to become a good sister. She still trains to the present day.
Harlese's family is rather typical if you get them alone. Masu spoils Harlese greatly, and with very little persuasion, she could get him to get her just about anything she wanted. The pair love each other very much, and so far, there is only one thing Harlese has never forgiven her father for, and that's taking her away from California. Her mother, on the other hand, is the one person Harly could never disagree with, and Harly never goes against her word. While her father has only once gotten angry at her, Mariette is the voice of reason, and is the one who disciplines her when she goes over the line. To the outside eye, Mariette may seem very cold and harsh, but Harly knows her mother would move mountains if it meant her and Evans' benefit. Between her parents, she chooses her father's side more, but she respects her mother more in exchange. She also respects her brother's pokerface. Harly adores Evans as well, and spoils him more than her father spoils her, buying him clothes, sweets, and other goodies whenever she gets the chance. Due to their mother's somewhat cool and distant personality, Evans looks to her for motherly affection. (i.e. hugs, kisses, comforting.) He never goes to Harly for advice - he goes to their mother for that. Evans is more suited for the yakuza family than Harlese, seeing as he has both a straight facial expression naturally and a good sense of business.
If Harly was a Daddy's Girl, Evans is definitely a Mama's Boy.
For the first seventeen years of her life, Harlese has enjoyed both the good and the bad sides of coming from an illegally wealthy family. From the endless supply of money, to the fact she could never tell anyone related to the cops of her family's actions, she's never really minded it. If one didn't know any better, you'd think she was a typical Beverly hills rich girl, not the daughter of the underground scene.
It was around the time she turned fifteen that Harlese took a strong liking to shopping in Japan. Harlese began to like standing out in fashion, and started using the stores in Japan more often than the ones in the States.
Harlese has always been a fairly popular girl, seeing as she quite friendly and stylish in school. She met her best friend Analise when she temporarily had to transfer schools due to a gang war outbreak in L.A. when she was thirteen. Harly's family, when they transferred her back to her original private school, put her back with Analise after Harly complained. The two constantly keep in contact, though she no longer attends Analise's school in California.
The Fujimiya family relocated to Japan due to move closer to Masu's yakuza family. A large war had broken out, and after much deliberation, he decided to make the move permanent. When Harlese was seventeen, and Evans was twelve, the family moved from L.A. to Tokyo. The entire family was bilingual, so there wasn't much of a problem there, but the problem was that Harly was fully Americanized, and she absolutely loathes living in Japan. Also, when the move occured, Masu assigned two bodyguards to her amongst other, unseen and unnamed ones: Gou and Kou Himeno, twin brothers. Not only do they attend the same private school as her, Kou has the same classes as her. Little does she know, the two both have feelings for her. (Gasp, what a shocker.)
Now eighteen, Harlese is still trying to rebel and get back to America. From running away from Gou and Kou, to shopping excessively for higly expensive things she would never use, Harly tries to do everything in her power to stay American in her entirely Japanese environment.
She insists she'll be going to America for college.
Personality: In a few words: naive, willful, and determined. She was born with a silver spoon in her mouth - ever since she was little, money has NEVER been an issue. If she wanted something, she got it. Her father spoiling her never helped either. For her fifteenth birthday party, he had a Purple Back gorillia shipped to their penthouse in L.A., and bought her three cars for her sweet sixteen. This spoiling and the way her father always bent over backwards for her also led to her, "my way or I'm going to annoy you until I get my way" philosophy. She's polite when she wants to be, but because she was sheltered most of her life due to her slowness (her brains do not lie in books) and kept away from the street and the underground scene, one would call her naive. She's quite unreasonable when angry, and will willingly throw a tantrum slash a screaming fit if she sees it's needed.
On the plus side, Harlese could also be described as: truthful, generous, and personable. Unlike her secretive family, Harly is quite honest, and hates keeping a secret. While she doesn't mind hiding her family's identity, anything else bothers her. She could never hold a straight face if she wasn't being sarcastic. Her friendly smile and disposition makes people comfortable. Because of Harly's naivety, she's also prone to giving too much and being taken as gullible.
