Yes, today was the funeral for my grandfather on my mother's side of the family. We arrived at the veteran's home's cemetery for the service where his urn stood on the table with his photo. After the minister recited his words, there was a salute with soldiers shooting their guns to the skies. My mom and grandmother kept a portion of my grandfather's ashes in 2 tiny urns. I cried a little during the salute and when I saw my grandpa's photo. He was a great guy and served in the Korean War and I loved him greatly.
After the service was done, my mom, stepdad, and i went over to one of my uncles' graves as he served in the Air Force. Soon we left to home to rest up a bit while my mom and stepdad went shopping at Walmart to get food for one of my aunts who came from California for the funeral and the afterparty. I was dressed in something comfortable and we left to my grandma's where it was held. I ate some of the food and did a bit of dancing to the music to celebrate my grandpa's life. I danced with one of my cousins and my mom to comfort her.
Afterward, I went back in to eat a bit more and talked with the aunt from California who had 7 daughters. She was rather nice and she told me about the whole anime cons and asked if I was still interested in Japanese culture and I was still. I even told her about me making one kimono for myself. I hope to see her again soon since I never saw her since I was a little girl and loved her as an aunt. I soon talked to other relatives like a cousin who knows my boss from work and wondered when I'll work again. I heard work was to be opened up again October 3rd in a new building. I hope so. And talked with another cousin who is an ER nurse. I helped my aunt with this puff pastry which had Polish sausage in it after my mom broke down and cried.
Then later on, my head went awful and tried to rest using one of my mom's medication pills for migraines and went to the living room with my uncle (one of my mom's two brothers). I tried to rest and my aunt gave me a tip to try: Try resting on a flat surface without a pillow to make my head content. I did that and when it was time to go home, my head went worse. All in all, I had a nice time for a gloomy event for the family. Wow, this is long, so now I am feeling a little better and I should feel better tomorrow before I go bowling hopefully.
10/10/35-9/22/11 Rest in Peace, Grandpa.
