We entered the lobby, Sarine and I, waiting for our conductor to arrive. Late as usual, they came from the school, 35 minutes after 10. I sighed and looked down at my formal attire. White shirt, black pants, 30 minutes of practice. It all comes down to this small bit of time. Not sure if I'm ready to do this. Single file line we head toward the concert hall. I'm shaking, I'm nervous and scared. It's been awhile since I last preformed infront of judges. Onto the risers row by row. The condoctor tells us to move over and squeeze in. I can barely breath. The Piano begins to play a fimiliar song but at this point it sounded so foregin. We begin, I raise my voice having to cover for the missing choir members. First song done we wait, I shift my legs shaking No turning back now. I feel as if I might fall, but
I have to stand strong. Second song no piano one thought " oh s**t no piano this is hard!" End. Judges write down some things then finally for our last song Dance DAnce DAnce. High energy final coming One last rise of your voice you can do it! Made it still so nervous. A judge comes down from the top seatings where she had been sitting and has us do some things. Makes me feel like a monkey. My sister nudges me as I start to fall forward My asthma was having a battle with me and kicking my a**. How could I be the best student in the choir and the loudest and have asthma?! Lord only knows. I stand straight my eyes feel heavy I might pass out almost done. I stagger from the risers and outside leaning against the brick wall outside the college concert hall. One last thing Pictures. WE stand nicely well mannered then comes the goof off pictures. I pull my hair down letting the red curls fall around my shoulders. I turn to the side fold my arms and scowl slightly. FLASH! I jump down from the picture stands and sit down, Sarine staring at me like I had just got beat up. My lungs burn but I feel fine after a few deep breath and swallowing a couple dozen gulps of water. The results. Excellent on all 3 songs. YES! WE did it! Sarine's father drops me off at my house I walk up the hill past my neighbors house toward the back and fumble with my keys as I unlock the door. I set my things down and go and collapse onto my bed closing my eyes for what feels like 5 minutes. My day has ended no more worries. Just wait till the Spring Concert! Ack! >.<'
