Taking a short detour from the Academy, Dante stopped at an old, decaying graveyard. Kneeling next to the largest, most expensive grave, he said "Father... i hope to make you proud." When he arrived at the military Academy, he was greeted warmly by the recruits who knew him. Confronting the captain, he signed the wagers needed to join as a soldier. "You sure you want to be an infantry unit? I know you can do better." The captain said. "If you are a tenth as good as your pops, that is." He smiled up at him, although Dante's gaze drifted off of his eyes--obviously uncomfortable. "Oh, right. Sorry kid." He handed him a sheet of paper. "Keep that and give it to the king. He will knight you if you can prove your loyalty to Gil'ead. NEXT!" he shouted past him. "Prove my loyalty?" He mumbled under his breath as he walked down the street, looking down at the contract. "How am I supposed to do that?" He came apon the castle again, moving past the library and to the north wing, where the main hall presided. Pushing the doors open, he approached the throne, stopping at the steps. He took to a knee, and offered his contract to one of the guards standing beside him. The knight brought it up to the king, and he looked from Dante to the paper again. "I find you much more than qualified, my boy... but that does not mean I can let you become a knight so easily" The king's voice was deep ans full of feeling, as though it was strenuous to simply say the right thing. "My lord... I know not how to prove my loyalty... For I have always lived here and never needed to any time in the past" Dante said boldly. "You simply need to prove it... I know that where your heart li--" He was cut off as a party of four people slammed the doors open, walking straight towards Dante and the throne. "We are here to instill our divine powers... and to eliminate all that poses a threat to the Steward of Horus!" The frontmost attacker shouted as the four lunged forward, swords drawn. "Knight! Defend me!" The king shouted, but it seemed too late. The leader's sword dropped, aiming directly at the King's skull. A loud klang filled the hall, and Dante was standing in between the attacker and the King. A sword lied in pieces on the ground in front of him, along with the attacker.. "All who attempt on this king's life shall find their right punishment in hell" He said loudly, lunging forward and dicing the closest two with little effort. The last tried to flee, but Dante threw his sword hard into his back. The hall was quiet, and the king looked at Dante with Pride. Dante walked slowly to his sword, and slid it out of the attacker's back, cleaning it on the blood red lining of his cape. He turned to the king, with a bow, having completed his test of loyalty, and left the hall as swiftly as he came.
