Shirrai felt a little intimidated by the grandeur of the Sage Academy and her knowledge of what lay inside, yet she had put her trust in Kamala and so far had not been led astray. She waited for Kamala to stop twirling, a smile on her face. Kamala smiled and bowed to her, holding the door open.
Shirrai got all flustered. "You don't have to bow! Oh, Kamala, please don't! You're my friend," she pleaded with her.
Kamala giggled. "Sorry, that's a bad habit." She said, walking inside. Shirrai followed her in nervously.
"Don't be nervous. They won't harm you. Although there is a Sage in here that bothers me sometimes." She said, walking into a small room with a man behind a counter.
Shirrai followed her into the room and looked at the man. Was he a Sage? She kept quiet, watching Kamala for clues on how to act towards him.
The man smiled and looked up from what he was doing. "Why hello Kamala. Who did ya bring today? Another person who wants to become a Sage?" He asked very friendly, holding out his hand to shake with Shirrai's.
Kamala smiled. "No, but have you seen my leader anywhere?" She asked, scratching her head.
"Yes. He’s in the room he’s always in." He answered, poiting down the large and well-decorated hallway.
Shirrai shook the man's hand. "Pleased to meet you," she said respectfully. He smiled and shook back. "Nice to meet you too." He said smiling. "I'm the Sage Academy's registration person." He said, beginning to write in a schedule book again.
Shirrai smiled at him and looked to Kamala, wondering if they were going to meet the leader she'd mentioned.
Kamala bowed at him and walked out the door, a bell in her hair jingled and she walked into the hall, the decorations and magic glowing with wonder, she started down the long hallway.
"Sorry if this is confusing. The doors in this place a warp portals." She said, standing in front of one.
"Wow," said Shirrai, impressed. "You guys sure aren't shy about using magic." Kamala giggled at that and stepped through the portal, appearing quickly in the next room her boots clacked as she landed on the ground. She stood beside the portal and waited.
Seeing Kamala disappear through the portal, Shirrai rushed through, not wanting to be left behind. She appeared on the other side, grinning. "That was an interesting experience," she remarked.
Kamala nodded and walked down a small hallway and turned and leaped through a portal on the left, then appearing in a small library.
Shrugging, Shirrai followed suit, muttering, "I'll never get used to this."
Kamala smiled. "It's ok. You won't need to." She said, walking up to a desk.
Shirrai positioned herself so that she was half-hidden behind Kamala. She was always shy meeting new people, especially if they were powerful.
Kamala knocked on he desk, a man popping up really fast, sending Kamala back a little.
"Yikes!" She yelled, then positioned herself straight. He looked at her and positioned his glasses as if he were having a hard time seeing her.
"Ah! Kamala!" He said in an old, wavering voice, rubbing his glasses then putting them back on. "What are you doing here?" He asked, looking behind her to see a shy Shirrai.
Shirrai scooted a little more behind Kamala. Kamala tapped Shirrai's shoulder from behind, showing her it was ok. Reluctantly, Shirrai stepped out from behind Kamala, and bobbed a curtsy.
The man smiled and gave a happy face. "No need to be shy young lady." He said, fixing his glasses again. "My name is Kaiser. I am the leader of the Sage test. I give the written part." He said, nodding.
Shirrai, emboldened by his attitude, said, "Well sir, it's like this: I'm not sure if I'm studying to become a Sage or not. You see, I really just need to get control of my magic. It keeps doing things on its own accord, without me working a spell or anything."
Kaiser got up and leaned at Shirrai, holding his glasses frontward. He was making her lean back slightly. He went back and put his hands behind his back.
"Well," He said. "We'll have to do something about that then." He said, sitting back down at his desk. Kamala nodded and smiled.
Kamala whispered to Shirrai. "He's older than me."
Shirrai mouthed 'wow' and looked at Kaiser with new respect. She felt she ought to explain a bit more. "Also, though my elven grandparents don't know, I need to see if there's anything that can be done about being a lycan. Kamala hinted that there might?" she asked hopefully.
