Humans in well-developed countries flock to shopping centers and malls to purchase gifts for their friends and relatives to be given on the appropriate holiday or days. This, to me, makes little sense because there are others of their kind starving to death at the same time they are out splurging on gifts that half of the time are underappreciated or never used. At the time when they should be remembering their fellow men in need, humans seem to only be concerned with themselves and those close to them - important people, of course, but certainly not the only people deserving of money and time. Those who make efforts to collect charity for the poor are to be supported and aided, and I do what I can myself. By thinking of others, you might give a needy child something as simple as a Christmas dinner, and yet it is often these little heartfelt things that bring the most joy during the holiday season.
I personally have to stake my preference with Christmas, due to my own religious affiliation (not, of course, dismissing the beautiful preparations that are often done for it); however, I encourage all humans of all races, religions, and classes to not only enjoy the spirit of giving in the usual material manner, but also to remember the spirit of love that the season was founded on. I quote a song:
Quote:
And the one poor child who saved this world
And there's ten million more who probably could
If we all just stopped and said a prayer for them.
And there's ten million more who probably could
If we all just stopped and said a prayer for them.
So, if you should read this as you prepare to make merry or finish up the year's fesitivies, remember the reason for the season and please act on it. Though I am not of your world, I shall do the same.
