MUSIC: Islands - Volcanoes MOOD: Booooored
So, Darthie said that he and two of his ilk are going to be here in April. I'm very excited for that. I already started dreaming up places I'd take them, like Hennessey's by the beach and Canter's on Fairfax, or a trek through Hollywood to Amoeba Records and the Cat & Fiddle for dinner, or a jaunt along the King Harbor pier. Not all things Darthie's never seen, but he's here for Eva anyway.
I really liked them, and I'd love to show T the workplace -- and L the boutiques. I think they'd take a good liking to the place, though maybe L would be better suited for someplace like Portland. From what I understand, the scenies out there don't want to be famous more than they just want to be notorious. Tragic. Whatever.
That's the thing about Los Angeles -- you get used to people wanting to become rich and famous, and a great many of us don't see this place as simply another city built on the American Dream, but the birthplace of the new American Dream. Everyone's got a band, or a screenplay they've been kicking around in their head, or a good side that loves to be photographed, or a "killer poetic soul that begs to be seen."
And of course, this is the place where that all actually latches on.
