((Ok, I am having a lot of fun rping, so I thought I would write a story behind my character here. Read and have fun!))
The day had been nice, with good weather and hard work that had always thrilled her--at least that is how it started. However, it only took moments for the tables to turn. This young girl, who would later re-name herself Outai Tabibito, was now in a life-or-death situation, and was losing badly. Horrified at seeing her family brutally murdered in front of her, she was still too shell shocked to fight back as the soldiers who had invaded her home continued to beat her. By the time she finally snapped out of her stupor, she could hardly stand. She gathered what little strength she had left and kicked behind her as hard as she could, hitting the man behind her in a very sensitive area. He doubled over in pain, and fell on the floor. His comrade, who was next to him, was enraged at her impudence. He took his spear, and shoved it through her back, killing her almost instantly.
What seemed like mere moments gone by quickly were really a few hours that she lay on the floor dead. Suddenly, her eyes pop open, revealing her usually warm and gentle hazel-green eyes that had attracted many people to be her friend. She sat up slowly and shook her head, not quite sure she was awake. In her mind, she was still dreaming that horrible nightmare of watching her family die. She looked around and realized it had not been just a dream.
Something was wrong, though. Something missing from the end of her nightmare that seemed to make no sense right now. Then it hit her--she had been killed.
"But, if they killed me," she said aloud to herself, "then, how am I alive right now?"
Just to be sure that she was not dreaming she pinched herself, but felt no pain. It seemed to make sense that she was dreaming, but something inside her knew she was not. She felt for the carodid artery in her neck, trying to find a pulse, but did not find it. Not only that, but her skin was ice cold, and, as she just realized, she had not been breathing the whole time. She tried to remember something else, besides her family's murder, but nothing came to mind. Not even her real name.
She was hysterical now. Her family was dead, and, what's more, she was dead, too. The only difference was that she was alive and watching this whole scene go by. Oddly enough, she could not cry. She wanted to, but the tears and the sobs would not come. All she felt was emptiness now.
She pushed herself off of the ground and stood, noticing that the patch of ground where her hands had been was completely frozen over. In awe, she touched the wall of her family's little hut, watching as the whole wall froze over. She knew how difficult things would be without the use of her hands, so the first thing that came to mind was to cover them. She found her grandfather's work gloves laying on the ground near his body. She walked over and picked them up, not surprised to see them frost over instantly, and pulled them over her hands. Just to test them, she touched the other wall and was glad to see that it had not frozen.
"What am I?" she wondered to herself, "I should be dead, and I am, but I am not at the same time. What is going on? Who, or what, am I?!"
End chapter one. Chapter two to come soon.
Suddenly the impact of what had happened finally hit her. She slumped to the floor and started crying hysterically. Her grandmother, grandfather, brother, and sister were all dead now, and for what? Becuase of a bloody and senseless war. Because the soldiers had become greedy, and blood thirsty. She vowed to get her revenge against them, no matter what the cost. Solemnly, she stood and dragged her family members outside the hut, one by one, and buried them the best she could. Her finishing touch was a small bundle of flowers on each of their make-shift graves, and the promise to avenge them, and then rejoin them.
As she left her little home in the hills, she dare not look back for fear of losing control of herself. Her face, which used to bear a beautiful smile more often than such a gloomy frown, was now serious and dark. She wandered around a nearby villiage, trying to figure out a plan. How would she get her revenge, especially against such a strong enemy? How is it that she could appear to be living even though she was dead? Why did everything freeze when she touched it? There were so many questions, and very few answers.
She was so lost in thought that she barely noticed an older woman on the side of the road, who seemed to be having trouble selling her wares.
"Excuse me, miss," the old woman said, "you look as though you are having troubles. Is there anything you wouldn't mind sharing with an old woman like me?"
"Not especially." she said quietly.
"Then perhaps you could help me. A helping hand gets a helping hand, I always say. You see, my apprentice has run off on an errand for me, but is taking much too long to come back. He went to a friend of mine in the bakery. Could you please send for him? Tell him that granny wants to know what is taking so long." Her gaze softened a little. This little old woman reminded her of her grandmother, in the same kind, motherly way that her grandmother would use to send her on errands herself.
"Sure, I guess. What's his name?" she said, her face still solemn.
"Oh, just ask around the bakery for him. Everyone knows granny." the old woman said with a rotted, toothy smile. As she turned to leave, the old woman stopped her again. "Thank you, miss...What was your name again?" She had to stop and think for a moment, surprised that she could not remember her own name. She tried to remember, but only two words came out clearly enough for her to understand.
"Outai. Call me Outai Tabibito."
"Thank you, miss Tabibito. If I may suggest, you might want to do a little research on your foe, and then decide what weapon would be best used against them."
"Wh, what did you say?" The suggestion had taken her off guard completely. It was as though the little old woman had read her mind, and had seen everything that happened. Just as she turned back around, to face the old woman, she found no one there. She was frightened a little, but mostly confused as to what had just happened. She knew for certain there was a little old woman standing there, selling her wares, who had asked her to find her apprentice. Now she was no where to be seen. According to how she was brought up, Outai pushed it aside for the moment, and concentrated on finding the old woman's apprentice. Perhaps he, or she, would give her some answers.
End Chapter Two
Outai wandered through the town, half in a daze about what had happened to her family, and about what "Old Granny" had told her, and half looking for the bakery to find her "apprentice". As she stepped through the door, a short, round man with chubby cheeks and warm eyes greeted her at the counter.
"Hello, miss. What can I get for ya today?"
"Ummm, I am looking for someone--an apprentice to an old lady. She didn't give me her name, but just told me to call her "Granny"." Suddenly, his face went pale and his big grin had droped to a worried frown.
"You're not talking about 'Old Granny', are ya little missy?"
"Yeah, that's her." His brows furrowed, and his tone deepened.
"Y-you best stay away from her. Old Granny has been dead since I was just a kid. Folks hereabouts say she don't exist, but a few see her now and then. Some are lucky--she helps them out. Some aint so lucky on acounta she kills 'em if she thinks they are evil. Her apprentice died with her when the war started. Now you best take whatever advice she gave ya, and git on outta here before you jinx the whole town!"
"All right," she said quietly, "I'm sorry to bother you, sir. Can you please at least tell me where the best library is? I need to find something out."
"Well, it aint here. Go to the capitol. Biggest library there is, and most likely has what you're looking for, little missy. Now I don't mean to be rude or anything, I just don't want yer bad luck rubbing off in here. You best leave now."
"Yes, sir. Thank you." She said quietly as she walked out the door.
Well, she thought to herself, They say that a journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step, and the capitol is about that far away, give or take a few miles. I am so sorry, you guys... She walked out of town, not noticing the new stares she got as she passed the villagers--looks of worry, and fear; looks of wonderment and awe for those who had not heard the arguement. Frankly, she didn't care. She was going to find out who killed her family, how strong they were, what their skills were--anything she could get on them, just as Granny had told her to do. She was going to learn all she could about them, and then she was going to get her revenge.
End Chapter three Chapter four to come soon...
As Outai wandered out of the village, she took one last look back. All her memories as a little girl were with her family in that little village, and now there was nothing left for her there. She felt sad that she had to leave, but her anger and hatred to those that had killed her family overpowered her sadness by far. All that mattered to her now was getting her revenge.
As she walked down the path that led to the next town--where she hoped she could get a ride to the capitol--she was so deep in thought that she never noticed the shadows that were gaining on her. At the last possible second, on of them appeared in front of her, surprising her as he grabbed her by the throat.
"Where do you think you are going, little missy?" he hissed at her. Suddenly her surprise turned to a rage that she had never known, not even after she watched her family die. The air around them chilled suddenly. The moisture in the air started to gather together and freeze into shards of ice around them.
"Leave me alone!"
The man was obviously scared now. His friends had long since left, and he was too scared to move. He pulled his hand away, muttering something incoherently. He tried to run, but he was petrified with fear.
"Didn't you hear me the first time? Get out of here and leave me alone!"
Suddenly the shards of ice that surrounded them started to fly around in different directions. A few of them finally flew off and hit a nearby tree, embedding themselves in the bark before melting away. One shard nicked her face, causing it to bleed a little in a fine red line. Another one slashed the mans arm that had previously grasped her by the neck in a choke hold. The pain of the ice shard slashing his arm finally brought him out of his stupor. He ran off into the forest, screaming wildly of a demon girl.
After a moment, she realized what she was doing. As she did so, the air warmed once again to what it was before, and the remaining ice shards vaporized into the air. What had she just done? What was going on? Had she just formed those ice shards and made them fly? She was terrified at what she had done, but knew deep down inside her that it would help in the future.
She started running down the path in a frenzy. So what if it could help? What would happen to innocent people she came across? Would she hurt someone? Would they try to capture her to see just what she was? What would happen? She had no clue, but she wasn't going to find out. She ran as fast as her feet would carry her, trying to avoid anyone that might be on the path. If anyone came, she would have to hide until she could figure out just what she was, and how to control whatever it was she had just done.
End Chapter Four Chapter Five to come soon.
Hello, this is Outai. What I am about to write is not for the weak stomach or heart, so I suggest you close this window if you are like that. For those of you who want to know my true past, which I finally remember, keep reading.
It goes in a two part story, really, starting with the events of four days ago. I am sad to say that I lost control of my temper again and started to attack the Ninja Academy, where I teach martial arts. My friend, Xinrie Arath, tried to calm me down, but it was a bit too late. I went into my "holy" form, and made a "holy bomb". However, instead of stopping when I was tired and though I had enough energy in it, I added more. I put in everything I had--from my psychokinetic energies to my very life energy, and even my own body. That's when it broke loose. A part of my mind I had kept sealed since the first time I died and lost my memory of everything before then. That part of my mind is my true nature. It is pure evil. I released the bomb onto the earth, and fortunately for us all Xinrie Arath covered the area with her chakra and absorbed most of the energy from the impact. Several mountains and forests were blown up, but the world was saved. However, since I had put my body into the bomb, I was mortally wounded, and my body was trapped in between two dimentions. I was unconscious at the time, but I was at war with my own mind. I fought for three days trying to reseal the evil inside of me, and almost lost. However, just when I was about to give up, my cat, Mooney, showed up in my mind with Xinrie and her sister. They resealed the evil in my mind, and from there my mind went inactive for the first time ever. I slept for a day, and for the following two days after that my mind was busy repairing itself, so I was only capable of the very basic thought processes and physical activities. I am now back to normal, but in that battle I regained something. The memories I had lost when I died the first time. And an explaination as to why I am the only one that can use the crystal I possess in my heart.
Now, as for the memories I regained and the final peice to the puzzle of my crystal. Well, those two tie together really. Keep in mind, some of these memories are still hazy, hidden in the fog of my mind. I will do my best to recount the tale for you.
I am from another planet. Not a demon, or an angel, or a werewolf or vampire as some here would think, but from another planet altogether. On this planet, my mother was the high priestess, and I was her prodige. I was quite talented for being no older than one human year. I could do things that even my mother could not do just yet. Unfortunately, a foreign object fell to our planet and obliterated half of the populus. The other half became tainted with an evil energy. In her last moments of pure thought, she sent me to earth and proceeded to completely destroy what was left of my home planet. I still remember the melody she sang to me as she placed me in the craft that I flew to earth in. However, I was not completely uneffected by the evil. Some of it managed to taint my mind, so on the journey to earth I sealed it away. There was a system malfunction just as I approached earth, causing me to crash and lose my memory before that point. An elderly couple found me and raised me, later adopting two others that belonged to their son who had died in a war. I was raised with them. The elderly two were my "grandparents" and the younger two were my "siblings". I thought I was a normal human growing up in a time of war. Then, one day when I was nineteen human years old, a soldier who was quite angry with the people he worked for killed my family and me. I woke up later and found out what I could do, but did not know what I was. Nor could I remember where or who I was.
Now, to link those two stories with yet another story. Before my arrival on earth, someone had come before me. This person made three crystals--The Crystal of Ages, The Demon's Eye, and The Ultimate. I hold in my hearth the Crystal of Ages. In an old legend it speaks of a princess who will be the bearer of this crystal, and the only one who can use it. I am the only person that can use this crystal. The person who made the crystals made the legend as well. However, when they had seen me on my home planet, they mistook me for a princess, hence the mistake in the legend. Actually, it was supposed to be a priestess--me. This now explains to me why I am the only one who can use the crystal.
