About

My name is Echo.

I am a freshman in college and study my major- communication, advertising, PR, and event planning, along with English Literature and a am currently working on a minor in German.

I love all things Disney.

I read Harry Potter like Star Wars Geeks follow Yoda.

If Lady GaGa and Pink had a joined tour I'd follow them to the end of the Earth barefoot.

I'm a little melodramatic ^^

I believe that everything happens for a reason, and that we should not regret our failures but that what ever decisions we made in the past felt right at the time, so we should simply learn from them.

I use " ^^ " all too frequently.

Also, I love taco-in-a-bag. It is the greatest thing since sliced bread.

You never lose by loving. You always lose by holding back.

Lol thanks, you made me lol back, which is good because the atmosphere is a bit tight where I am right now. Things always work out and I'm sure they'll be fine in a matter of hours if not a night or two, but laughing is always nice to break the tension.

Oh no! You've been pretty silent lately, I hope I didn't worry you with my last comment. I have a tendency of rambling - that's definitely true. Also I'm definitely an eccentric optimist, so that has a habit of coming out ^_^ If it's any consolation I'm not argumentative, except for on academic paper.

*_* WARNING! An epic message is about to ensue! *_*

Wow, that's interesting, it's cool that you got to go to such an open highschool though. ^^

As for the social issues I'm most interested in, I'd have to say social responsibility mainly, which is a broad term encompassing quite a few things. Mainly I'd like to see a huge reformation of the media here in the states, journalism is a sacred profession to me, and it aught to be guided by a developed method to check for bias and have severe penalties for those who would report that they are journalists, but are in all reality simply ideologues.

I also would like to see the development of several federal review organisations. In Canada for instance, there is a review organisation that has unbridled access to all of their espionage documents (among obviously all the other not-so-top-secret ones) and constantly reviews to ensure that things like human rights violations are not being perpetrated. It's a way of maintaining transparency while ensuring a continuation of the necessary operational secrecy.

An extreme rehash of our medical system is something I would also like to see. We aught to have a board of nominated or properly appointed medical doctors with fixed salaries to set the necessary standards to ensure proper care of people. (I definitely am a fan of public Health Care, as is anyone who reviews the WHO records, and the beautiful stasis of places like Norway, for instance.)

Definitely would also like to see democracy in the work-place as well. Your average worker aught to have a pretty serious amount of say as to how much the board of directors can make off of his work.

lol, here comes the really controversial stuff-

I'd like to see a dismantling of the stock market and hugely policed limits put on interest rates and trade-based investment strategies. The stock market makes no legitimate sense when the concept is dissected, and is a completely indefensible form of gambling with peoples careers, penchants and retirement funds and by no short extension- their lives.

Capitalism is a modern term for Aristotle's Plutocracy, and heavily incompatible with the concept democracy. Government by the rich is a bit different then government by the people, and aught to make one reminisce a tad about caste and feudal systems of yore. I'd like to see at least a much more properly administered form of Keynesianism, which is technically what we have now though it leans more towards capitalism. Actual real Capitalism exists without a government structure (police, officials, roads, firemen, libraries, public schools, etc.) because money cannot be pooled. When money is pooled together by a majority of people to accomplish some common goal like the police force, military or public schooling, that's a social effort, and hence a form of what is now referred to as Socialism. Keynesianism is the half-way in-between Socialism and Capitalism. It's not a commonly talked about philosophy because it's a bit harder to understand than the simpler stereotypes we deal with. Socialism is the half-way between Capitalism and Communism, something else that's usually not understood very well.

Additionally, both Communism and Socialism have the option of being either nationalist or dictatorial like Nazi Germany and Soviet Russia, or democratic such as Norway, France or to a lesser extent Canada. Capitalism has no option in itself for democratic involvement, but the blending of Capitalism with Democracy gives birth to Keynesianism.

Lol, in case you can't tell by my last two paragraphs I'd like a HUGE emphasis put on the proper education of school children, especially on very important issues like economic systems. The above should be common knowledge, but the economic instruction in American schools is notoriously poor, hence the misunderstanding so prevalent in our daily lives.

I guess if you want my biggest opinion, it's that the greatest emphasis aught to be put

Hah! Cheezburger ess MIEN! *grabs and runs*

lol, cheezburgers aside (somebody set us up the bomb^_-) I know what you mean. I sure like college better than high school though, personally anyhow. The freedom to write papers, and to write completely uncensored about stuff that really matters - these things I adore. (Plus I'm really a social reformist/(peaceful)revolutionary at heart too, so you can imagine there are some controversial issues I'm pretty passionate about.)

Thanks for the compliments on my avi ^//^ it was really a gift from a friend of mine who designs them as her gaia profession. I really like your's actually, it's simple and aesthetically pleasing in it's cute-simplicity.

*admires back* oooh pretty *_* ^_^

Yay, reciprocal creepage ^^

You're welcome, I really am a student at heart so creepin around to check up on someone's interests comes naturally, write a couple papers in college and all of a sudden you're an investigative journalist right? Haha

I think you're probably my favorite new friend on Gaia too, we should most definitely keep the conversation going.

Doin pretty fine today actually smile

Unfortunately I think I have to admit that I'm not your mystery flower sender, haha, kinda wish I was though, what a sweet gesture.

I love that you put Great Expectations in your fav. reads. Dickens was a was an unbelievable talent who really gave his heart to social reform. His writings are beautiful and almost openly poetic in their ethereal luminescence.
(forgive the wordiness, I thought you might enjoy it as an English Lit., and I tend to jump on someone who I think I can talk in my usual academic dialect to ^^)

Great Expectations has a place on everyone's shelf imo. Gutes Glück mit dem deutscher Minderjähriger btw ; )
