What's happening:I'm finally back on Gaia to mooch all the holiday items for 2010. And finally get a better profile going on.
I live in New England and work as a graphic designer for a school software company. It's a relatively new job, and I really love it. I feel very lucky to have found a full time professional position in this field, and in this economy.
On the side, I have discovered how awesome it is to sew my own costumes for Renaissance Faires. I'm currently working on an "Ever After" gown in red velveteen, and I've slowly gathered all the material to make my own historical Tudor gown - including the undergarments! I find it very rewarding at the end of the day to be able to make something with my hands.
I'm also planning to get back into playing the piano and taking lessons with my old teacher. I played for ten years and did really well when I put effort into it, but I stopped as I reached college. Now it's several years later and I want to enhance all the skills I've accumulated over the years.
I grew up a Catholic, but have more or less dropped Christianity and religion in general and now call myself spiritual. I believe in G-d, spirits and reincarnation. I find a lot of satisfaction in feeling like I have certain lessons that I'm supposed to learn in this lifetime, and that every good and bad thing in my life has lead me to this point and hopefully in the right direction. I have recently started going to meditation practice sessions for the experience, and I'm learning a little bit about Kabbalah.
I've been into Tarot cards for a while, and my current goal is to learn everything there is to know about them. I want to know my spiral deck by heart. That includes studying general symbols and meanings - such as angels and boats and such - knowing all planet and zodiac symbols and what they represent, learning all the western zodiac traits by heart, numerology, color symbolism, stones types, and the 22 letters of the Hebrew alphabet that represent the 22 creative forces that shaped the universe (hence the study of Kabbalah.) In truth, I find the cards to be a psychological aid for people, helping to open new perspectives in their situations in life, but I'm open-minded about it as well. I wish to study it simply to be able to give more thorough readings to my friends and to myself, and the topics of study have always interested me anyways - so I welcome the challenge!
