my daily mental vomit
more daily fodder
my first entry ... and guess what? i have nothing much to say - nothing that would interest anyone who's not me anyway. cool
i did a stupid thing, well a newb thing. since i'm new i had no clue about the avatar arena ... you know, like how it works and that i'd have to pay for the pleasure of learning nothing i couldn't have found out by posting a question in the forum. sweatdrop d'oh!
of coarse i had only the most basic of stuff to outfit my avatar with and even so, i thought it was rather cute. trouble is, it seems the arena is not without it's major set-backs.
1. The bots, which don't really effect me since there was no way in hell i'd win anyway - and ...
2. The huge mass of complete f***ing jerks around here who think their time is so bloody valuable that they shouldn't have to bother even looking at avatars that they don't deem worthy of their time wahmbulance (get over yourself already)

idea I think there are several things that would remedy both problems -
firstly, gold is extremely difficult to come by on Gaia, though not impossible. unfortunately the kind of time and effort you'd need to even begin to see anything that could be construed as a reasonable amount of gold - at least an amount you would need in order to purchase an even half way decent wardrobe (never-mind specialty items) is unimaginable for most. in a world of fast food, high speed internet, fast cars & fast paced living, nobody has the patience - or rather very few have the patience.

the only things you can do to earn gold on Gaia are to get the freebies, post, vote, surf, win competitions in the arenas, sell stuff and play games
the down-side to each of these are that the amount you earn from freebies, surfing, posting and voting are comparatively minimal - the large amount you can win from the competitions alone is the reason for the annoying bots you see - in order to make anything from selling stuff you need to get goods at playing the marketplace (buying low, selling high) but you need a reasonable amount to begin and unless you are very lucky, it does take a lot of time to accomplish. lastly you have the games and sadly there are far too few games and only a couple from those available that give any real return.

I think Gaia needs to perhaps look at the possibility of starting different levels of competition for the avatar arenas - then beginners could also take part without feeling like s**t for trying. personally i get a kick out of seeing what some people can do with little gold and a lot of imagination ... as long as it's not just blatant basic starter s**t and nothing but - there are some people who can work wonders and they should have an opportunity like anyone else to win a contest - of coarse the winnings would be much less than that of the regular competitions, but still a good amount to make the competitions fun and challenging.
i also think Gaia could consider bringing out more games and perhaps upping the gold ante on games that give little return (and hey, what about making those blasted university credits usable already!! i mean c'mon guys!) they could also make flowers & bugs something that could be sold for 1 gold each (or 1 gold for 3 flowers and 1 gold for 5 bugs, whatever) - i mean really, would it kill to make it a tad more accessible? I honestly believe it would probably help to quell the need for these a-holes makin their bots in order to cheat ...

okay - for now I'm done ranting *pant, pant" i'm exhausted already wink
