Thoughts on Suicide
These past few days I've been thinking (after watching the Dead Poet's Socioty) that Suicide is a very selfish thing. I mean, you're killing yourself because you don't want to live anymore but you're not thinking about how your death will impact the people around you or whom they might hurt in order to blame your death on something else. For example, the dad in the movie obviously led the kid to commit suicide but then when he killed himself, they tried to find a scapegoat so they blamed the Dead Poet's socioty and then the english teacher, who was always very kind to the kid that killed himself and they were both kinda friends in a teacher-student way. So, in the end, the kid ended up not only overwhelming his parents with emotions but hurting his teacher and his teacher's reputation. If that isn't a backfire to a selfish cause, I don't know what is. I mean, you might not care if your life goes on and you may wish to die, but think about everyone, your best friend, your parents, everyone you may impact when you kill yourself. It may be hard to belive, but people do care about you.
