Well, this weekend in Wonderful Welsh Wales was the first outdoor party of the season!
I decided that this year I was going to be organised!
What a mistake that was! It turns out that the universe hates organised pixies and threw in some random just to test my staying power!
So, the car was packed, the camping gear was all checked and ready to go, the directions were found, the munchies were ready, friends collected and off we went!
The weather turned.
By the time we arrived at the party it was already chucking it down and the field was a swamp. Regardless, we carried on and carted our camping gear a mile from the car and pitched our tents.
Ignoring the torrential downpour we went off to party and it was all going well until I lost my car keys! Disaster, here we were, 40 odd miles from home with all our important stuff locked in the car and no way of getting in! gonk The remaining hours were spend sifting through the mud looking for my keys. They never reappeared. During the key hunt I checked by the campfire, some fool had pulled one of the logs out and I tried to move it to see if my keys were underneath, it was still red hot! Burned my fingers.
But still we partied!
Finally I gave my keys up as a lost cause. It was then that I bumped into my ex who had decided it was an excellent idea to get back together with his old girlfriend. How cross was I? 3 months of her being a total pain in the arse because we were together, 6 months of grief and bitching and backstabbing, and all so that he could dump me to get back with her! I could have screamed.
But I didn't.
I carried on partying!
It's amazing how even with lost keys, burned fingers, stupid exes and soggy shoes I still managed to have an excellent evening. Next time I'm hitching, and whatever doesn't fit in my pockets is staying at home, keys will be left with a reliable friend for collection in the morning and I wont be trying to pick up bonfires!
