Roux drew his sword, back to back with the others.
"Something tells me this isn't good."
His voice shook as the leopards circled. They were probably hungry. Sain raised an eyebrow at Roux's obvious fear, face to face with his second leopard.
"What, scared?"
Their short conversation was interrupted by a scream from Shiro as a claw pierced
her shoulder. Blood spurted from the wound inflicted by the beast as the dark haired girl's katana dropped blade first into the creature. It gave a last, agonizing gasp before slamming to the dusty ground, dead.
"Lucky break." She gasped, struggling to pick up her weapon before a sharp, cold pain stabbed into her heart. A dark, shadowy mist clouded her vision before she collapsed.
"Shiro! Wake up!" Shelby looked at the blood staining the ground as she backed away. She glanced at Sabishi trying, not very sucessfully, to fend off a starved leopard.
"Leave her alone!"
Shelby felt her long-unused powers stir awake as flames from her hand hit the creature squarely in the face. A furious roar and a sickening smash echoed from below as it was knocked of the edge. She gave Sabishi a reassuring smile.
"Not bad." Roux muttered as he watched Sain kill the last one. He looked round at everyone. Other than Shiro, most of them had suffered minor wounds and cuts.
Now they had to fix the problem of Shiro's wound.
But then another cry came up, this time from Sain. Apparently before the creature died, it had stabbed him in the arm. Everything went blurry.
"Pain."
Was his last word before he blacked out.
