My Daily Thoughts
A journal of my thoughts, feelings, hopes, dreams, secrets and dispairs.
Kiss of Fate

She looked miserable as she sat there, just starring out the window. The skies were a deep stormy gray and filled with clouds that made the sun seem long forgotten.
Her green eyes seem to star off into the heavens as her mind seemed to be swept up into the clouds. Dreaming of days log past, and wishing what was yet to come. Thinking of people that she had no contact with in years, and wishing how she could go back to those days. One day in particular.
The memory of that day put a slight sparkle in her eye at the thought. It had been, to the normal person, nothing special. However to her it had meant the world. Who knew such a simple action could trigger such emotion in a woman so young? She knew. She may have been young in age but in mind she knew much more than others expected.

She let her mind drift back to that day, and it seemed as if she were standing there, watching it happen all over. The day had been hot and exciting for most, but for her it had been long and dull. Families were out making first trips to the beaches, and here she had been dragged along. The car ride had been long, and the air was hot and humid. Her feet seemed as if they would melt if she had to walk much further in the hot sand, but now the tainted blue color of the water was only a few feet away.

Her family had found what seemed to them to be the perfect spot, as they set up the towels and chairs. Her father pulled open the cooler to see if anyone wanted a drink, and her mother lathered on the sunscreen. Her eyes drifted a few feet away, eying the shore of the ocean waves as they seemed to hypnotize her. They seemed to be calling for her. Her raven locks blew in the salty wind as she stepped threw the sand, her feet longing for the cooling effects of the waters.

She stood at the edge as the tips of the waves crashed at her feet. She slowly walked into the cool water, enjoying the refreshing feeling it gave. Not being bothered by the small waves that splashed her occasionally and she was still under their hypnotizing effect as she just walked around in the water, enjoying the cool wet sand beneath her feet and the rippling waves that formed to the curves of her body. The haves got higher, but she never noticed. She was too captivated.

Too captivated to see the large wave rushing towards her, until a second before. It was if a magician who had the audience hypnotized finally snapped his fingers, to bring them back to reality. She just stared at the wave rushing towards her, and engulfed her in a deadly embrace.

Too fast for her to hold her breath, she was captured under the waves that now rippled over her body. Struggling, but not good enough to save. Her body started to tire as her motions slowed. But her actions had not been unnoticed by the shore. A young lad, around her aged, had swam to where she was. He dove under and grasped her waist, pulling her above the waters, freeing her from their clutches.

She coughed and spat most of the water she had swallowed, out as she was pulled to the shore. Now there they sat, a few feet away in the sand, as the waves angrily pounded the earth. She wanted to say something, but every time she started to open her mouth, nothing would come out. She looked at her rescuer that was still beside her, and opened her mouth, only to stare blankly into his deep blue eyes that were occasionally blocked by a tress of golden hair caught in the wind.

The silence was broke when he asked if she was okay. When she nodded, he stood, and reached for her hand, which she accepted. After they were both on their feet, they didn't let go of the other, just stood and watched the crashing waves. She said her thanks, only glancing at him momentarily, not wanting to stare.

He looked at her solemnly, as he started to speak. He said it had been fate that caused them to meet, and told her one day they would meet again. He kissed her cheek and whispered, "Wait for me," in her ear, and walked away.

That day was long ago, but it seemed only yesterday. And her heart ached for the day that they would meet again.
