- « Name: » Rune Kotoya
« Age: » 17
« Gender: » Male
« Sexuality: » Heterosexual
« Position: » The Wizard in Training
« Allegiance: » Troy
« Appearance: » Although he's the center of everyone's ridicule, no one can go without saying that he's not a bad looking kid. If it weren't for his being a rookie, he might actually be seen as someone (which is one of his primary goals). No one knows who his true parents are, but Rune's adoptor is somehow able to pick out which features come from his mother and which from his father. Or so he thinks. He thinks that the evident features from his mother are his hands, his nose, and the overall shape of his body. Those from his father would be his eyes, facial structure, and everything else. Rune isn't entirely sure if these guesstimates are correct or not, but since no one else has ever put in their opinion about it, he goes with it.
His body may not hold clear eavidence of this, but Rune is actually quite strong. Lifting up various volumes of magic texts to the top shelves of the bookcase have made his arms capable of carrying various other heavy objects and holding himself up for extended periods of time (he found that out when hiding from the band). Not only that, but he's quite the runner as well. It's nothing to be amazed at, but it gets him from point A to point B, or into convenient spots to hide in.
Rune's black hair and uncommonly cold eyes are things that get him into some trouble with not one, but a few people. They don't like how he's so different from everyone else. With his parents unknown, he's seen as a misfit child with unusual features. He had yet to find another person with hair and eyes like his own. It's not something that bothers him too much, but it does make him wonder about things which is something that his adoptor says is good for him.
'A stagnant mind makes a stagnant person, which is why you are so smart today. Your mind works in ways that give you an incredible amount of knowledge to take from. Make sure you're always thinking or you will turn into exactly what you don't want to be. A stagnant rock.'
« Personality: » Rune has always been a quiet boy, taking all things in stride and as they come. Eveyone who knows him says that it is because of the vast amount of water in his personality that he's able to 'go with the flow' in a sense. Rune himself thinks that it's just because he doesn't worry over spilt milk. Not doing so allows him to move on to the next thing and essentially with his life. It's not in his nature to worry over the small things that can't be helped.
What's done is done.
Another quality of him is that he's slow to anger. Sure, he gets annoyed, but he doesn't act on it like so many others like to do. He bottles it all up inside him and saves it for the right time, when it would be useful. Otherwise it's just another waste of energy and time. He strongly believes in causing the least amount of trouble possible.
He gets picked on enough the way it is. he doesn't need a bad record on top of that.
« Likes: »
+ Rain- Rune loves everything about it. The smell, the chill it brings to the air, the feeling as it bounces off your skin... But more importantly, the calming effect it has on him.
+ Night- For the sudden hush it brings upon everything and the stars that become visible during those hours.
+ Cold- He'd much rather be bundled up than sweating... That and he likes the wind more when it's cold.
+ Water- He doesn't know if it's just his personality that brings him to water, but he often finds himself but some form of it wherever he goes.
+ Silence- 'The silence deafens' It's only in the silence that he can make sense of things going on around him.
« Dislikes: »
+ Bright Lights- It was because of certain bright lights that he needs glasses now. Staring up at the sun in wonder as a child was something that he shouldn't have done.
+ Loud Noises- They make him lose his concentration, which is why he prefers the silence that boosts it.
+ People- In general, Rune doesn't like people because everyone seems so stereotypical. This may have come from the mocking he gets on a daily basis...
+ The Same Old Same Old- He doesn't like things that constantly stay the same. It makes him feel claustrophobic and caged in.
+ Naivety- Rune finds those who are naive not worth speaking to because they wouldn't be able to connect, much less understand or withold a conversation with him.
« History: » Life was never the easiest for Rune, though is it really for anyone else either? Although, most people didn't start out on the doorstep of a random magician's house. It was from the moment that Rune learned that (which was at an early age) that he knew his life was never going to have a convenient easy button.
Rune grew up watching his adoptor play around with all sorts of magic. Some of it was fascinating and awe inspiring, while others were fear-instilling and often brought him to realizations about certain things in life. For instance: Things are the way they are for a reason and mankind was never meant to change them. That one was a harsh realization but one he was sure to never forget.
It was through these realizations that Rune came to the conclusion that he too wanted to be a magician. If lessons like these could be taught through simple tricks, what could be taught through more complex ones? he too wanted to be able to make people think about things in life that are normally taken for granted.
From that realization on, he was taught by his adoptor the secrets of magic but it was only until recently that they actually started with the true magic part of it all. Though Rune didn't mind. Afterall, it was in his nature to just go with the flow of things...
« Abilities: » He's still but a rookie when it comes to magic, though he's taking to it all quite easily now that he has the basics down. Though that isn't his only skill. Rune possesses an uncanny ability to presuade people into seeing things his way. Though he may not talk much, he knows how to say the right things at the right times. It's in this area that his intelligence really shines. He's also quite good at charming others, which comes in handy when escaping physical mockery. Hey, he has to avoid bruises somehow without fighting back if he doesn't want to make any trouble.
