The caged:

I'm the secret, the one not meant to be.
The prodigy, the genius, but I'm really only me.
There's still a side of me that no one understands;
the broken side, the caged side, the one that never ends.
I tried to fly away from the pain left in my past,
but ended up beating my dark wings against a pane of shattered glass.
Finally, I broke and lay shattered on the ground,
staring at the sunlight that wouldn't come around.
My cage has bars that even my eyes cannot see,
but they're there, I've felt them, and I know they'll always be.
I'm a caged bird, the one with bloody wings,
so how come you can see me but choose the one that always sings?
