Swiping at the buzzing alarm clock, Erica threw her feet off the bed. Engulfed in near perfect darkness, she fought sleep, standing to pull the chain to the overhead light. The white light form the 75 watt bulb blinded her as Erica fumbled with the obstacle in her path to the clothes she had set out the night before. A pair of blue jeans, hoodie, and red tee lay over a swivel chair next to a desk that was cluttered with books, papers, files, other miscellaneous junk and a computer, somewhere. Looking away from her self made mess, Erica realized besides her under clothes, she only wore an extra large tee that brushed her knees. Shaking her head, she quickly dressed, and looked about for her shoes and socks. Catching movement in the corner, Erica turned to see a small orange puff attempting to carry away her shoe. "Oh no, you don't." She jumped and almost landed on it, but it nearly slipped into the crack between her dresser and shelf. Taking the shoe from her small white rimmed mouth, Erica scolded her kitten, "Aurora, shoe is not a toy. Neither is hand, sock, or scrunches." Sighing, she placed the kitten on the bed and knelt down. Reaching her hand back into the crack, Erica found her socks, a necklace, and three hair scrunches. Shaking off dust, she pulled on her socks and shoes. Aurora played fiercely with her laces, thou Erica was trying to tie them. Finialy slipping away from the baby cat shut behind her door, she grabbed her bag and went out.
Early dawn cooled her skin, as Erica waited by her mailbox. Light dimly gave her the ability to read, thou she gave up when her mind trailed off the words. Listening, Erica heard the moring calls of fall birds, and last goodnights of crickets. But this peace didn't last long as the bright yellow vehicle pulled up in front of her. After steping on the high steps, Erica proceded to tthe back of the bus as her best friend waved, happily. "So how are you and Ryan doing?" asked Mercy with a smirk, as Erica sat, sighing. Looking into her delightful brown eyes, she replied, "No better or worse than the last time you asked."
turning her smirk into a slight frown, Mercy said, "So she is still giving you, too h*ll?", before brshing back her short red bangs. "No one else is datin her son," Erica sighed again, slipping farther into the seat. The rest of the ride was silenced, thou Mercy wanted to voice her concern for her dear friend.
