Is it just me, Or are the schools getting more and more lax about learning, and more interested in making kids feel that they are special? I mean, I'm not saying that thats a bad thing, I'm just saying that to much of a good thing can go wrong. It seems that kids these days are more interested about being the best, and saying there better then everyone else, Then about learning, and preparing for the future. Schools seem to focus on competition at this point, and think that learning is irrelevant. Knowledge will get you further then popularity ever will. Take for example, the subject of gym. We hardly even play sports or games involving teamwork anymore. Its all about being better, showing your skills are better then the next person's. I mean, I'm as competitive as the next, guilty as tried, but I'd prefer to learn useful stuff. Not that knowing how to properly play duck, duck, goose wont serve me in the future...it will if I'm a kindergarten teacher!, but thats about it. Also what I don't get is all the mandatory classes. Like Math, English, Science, Socials, and P.E. After a certain extent, I think we should be able to choose the classes that will work out better for us. We should have control over our own future. If you guide us through life, then when is our turn to try out new things and find out what's best for ourselves?
