WHAT THE HOLOCAUST IS TO ME
Of that time,
Soon the world will forget,
What happened on that fateful day,
When all the parents were dragged away,
And the children came home to empty houses,
That echoed with the screams and pleas,
That still held the stench of terror,
And the feelings of despair.
What happened to the children,
Whose parents didn’t come home,
Who died lonely painful deaths,
Till all that was left,
Was a fading memory.
The memory of the loved ones,
Whose spirits have left this world,
The memory of the pain,
That shadowed every face,
They wished for hope,
They wanted hope,
But hope they could not find.
If we lose all of our hope,
Till instinct is all we have,
And our instinct is to fight,
But we can fight no more,
What is left for us to hold onto,
But fading memories,
Of the grass and the trees,
Of the flowers and the streams,
Of the laughter and sun,
That made our hearts feel light.
“To what time must we wait,
Till we feel free again,
Till our eyes are alight with hope,
And our voices ring with joy,
How long till liberation”,
The ghosts whisper on the breeze,
You hear their tortured souls with ease,
Your nightmare is nothing compared to theirs,
You see nothing but an echo,
You hear nothing but an echo,
You feel nothing but an echo,
Of the pain and the sorrow,
Of the death and the loss.

Well, this one came from the fact that we were reading about the Holocaust in class and I felt the need to write about it so out came this; my mom says it's good but I don't know, she says all my poems are good and I know that's not true.
