basically any kind of machinary we make to alter temperature has to generate a lot of heat. A stove or oven need only generate heat for a specified amount of time depending on what the food being prepared with its assistance requires (boil, bake, steam or fry). Where a refridgerator or freezer has to coninually generate so much heat and expel it really fastin order to be so chilled or frozen. Its almost too bad in some ways that the exact heat given off by the fridgerator and freezer can't somehow be specifically stored in reserve for the stove and oven.
I also wonder what would happen if say water used for cooking could just be recycled in the home rather then poured down the drain to be taken away through plumbing to the treatment plant. That specific water already has nutrients from the foods we cook that our bodies needs, its already its very own vitamin water and simple chemical alterations can be done to change the flavor if so desired. Yeah, you can buy already prepared stuff at the store, but what if it was cheaper to recycle in the long run or possibly better for the current environment?
I've been thinking about waste management lately too. Its a dirty job and it smells bad, but there must be a way to revolution the concept that would create decent paying jobs and attempting some form of a better balance between mankind and nature. Saw a snipit of dirtest jobs not too long ago where these guys were making planting pots from cow dung. Wouldn't it be great if we could production line our wastes into something useful like that in the process of purifying water? Maybe its already being done to some extent, afterall I don't know where the fertilizer and soil companies get their ingredients from. Its just too bad that the government isn't on the forefront instead of the backbone that makes sure everything is up to code, be a heck of a way to generate more revenue to pay off the national debt while conserving resources.
These could be topics worth researching and trying to learn more about both scientifically and economically me thinks. I'd just love to help do my part in making a new utopia as an engineer, someone else can do the rest.
