He Sat In His Car And Cried....Stupid Emo Kid
BOWIE, Md. -- A missing Bowie State University student was found alive on Saturday night, a week after he disappeared.
Julian McCormick, 18, was badly injured and trapped in his wrecked car after he drove off Powder Mill Road into a creek in Beltsville, officials said.
He was last seen Sept. 1 on his way to pick up his girlfriend, his family said.
According to officials, McCormick managed to free himself, telling family he crawled through a creek bed, under a bridge and up an embankment to a road where two women spotted him on Saturday.
"I ran up to him and I said, 'Are you ok? What happened?' And he said, 'I got in a car accident.' And I said, 'Hold on. You're going to be OK. We're going to have an ambulance come.' And I ran up and I flagged to my mom to get them to come," said Lee Hess, who found the missing teen.
Officials said that at the time, the disoriented teenager asked what day it was. Hess said the teen had a movie ticket with him, and that he said it was the last thing he remembered seeing.
Officials said McCormick suffered from cuts, abrasions, some burns and dehydration. McCormick's aunt said he told his family he survived by dipping his shoe into the creek and eating what fish he could catch while he worked to tear the seat belt.
Police confirmed that it was evident from the crash scene that McCormick had been trapped in the car for days.
Firefighters said several cars must have driven by the area in which McCormick had been trapped, but didn't see him.
The teenager was being treated for non-life-threatening injuries and was listed in fair condition.
Worried friends had created a Facebook page and were headed to a Saturday night vigil for McCormick when they got the news, the teen's family said. They said he should be released from the hospital in a few days.
