I wrote this in grade 8 so don't laugh at it -.- This is the poem that started everything for me..I refer to the blackdove in lots of my poems.

I look into the darkness of the night,
And see a bird in mid flight.
It turns its head to look at me,
Is only my life a mystery?

The bird I saw was a black dove,
It flies higher and higher to the above.
It flew further and further into the dark,
Then I notice, on its heart theres a mark.

A mark that looks like a tear,
Then Im filled with fear.
I fear for my life, for my soul,
And then I fall into a hole.

In the hole I sit and wonder why,
Why I cry this tearless cry.
I sing for help, I sing for the dove,
But nothing comes from above.

My dove does not come to see,
Is this darkness meant for me?
Then I see a path that leads to a light,
And more darkness to the right.

Do I go right, left, or do I stay,
Stay here while the dove flies away.
I stay and think of the dove as it flies,
It hugs and comforts whatevers in pain, whatever dies.

Why doesnt it come here?
Do it fill it with fear?
Why am I here, alone?
I see a word etched in stone.

What does it say?
Why is the dove so far away?
Why is there a pain in my soul?
Why am I in this hole?

Then I look up and wipe a single tear,
And try to fight the fear.
For now I realize, now I see,
That the black dove is me.
