The Door to the Mind
My sacred space to post whatever I want. Rants, dreams, experiences and anything else that comes to mind.
Missing something...
Link shifted uncomfortably in his new clothes. He didn’t vary much like them. The chain mail beneath his green tunic was heavy and made it hard to satisfy itches under his shirt. The shirt was annoyingly itchy to begin with; the designers saying something about it being “gritty and realistic”. It was supposed to be all the rage in the upcoming years and Nintendo decided to jump on the bandwagon. Unfortunately, it meant a very uncomfortable wardrobe for Link who had, surprisingly, very little say in the matter. He let out an exasperated sigh at the thoughts as he walked down the halls of Smash Manor.

Smash Manor; it was more of a boarding house then anything actually fancy. With the release of the first installment in the Super Smash Brothers events, it has been only him and a few others. Kirby, Fox McCloud, Ness, and Captain Falcon. Link shuddered at the thought of the Captain. First off, the Falcon Dive, which was somewhat genius in its design, made him feel violated whenever it was used on him and the Captain’s pink and white outfit just gave Link an absolute sense of dread.

The Hero of Time was shaken from his thoughts as he collided with someone else. While it didn’t faze Link much, the other person must have been hit full force, as he heard a body topple to the ground.

Spiky brown hair, deep blue eyes, a white toga, and folded white wings. Link has seen Pit once before, though not in any sort of introductory situation. They had been taking promotional pictures for the Super Smash Brother Brawl event. Pit was a nice kid, treating his seniors with respect and being so much nicer then need be. After all, no one needed Mario’s ego to be inflated larger then it already was.

Link stared flatly as Pit seemed to tense up, seeing who exactly he’d run into. The demi-angel gave a quick bow and a formal apology as he raced off in another direction, probably to go unpack in his new room.

Link sighed. Of all the newbies, he seemed to admire Pit the most. Wario was just disgusting, Ike seemed like a brutish carbon and pointless copy of Roy and the same could be said about Lucas with Ness, Diddy Kong was just as unkempt as Donkey Kong, Meta Knight was so sickeningly dark and mysterious that Link avoided him at all costs, and even more so with that Solid Snake person.

Pit, on the other hand, showed promise if he could ever get over being so overly respectful and nice to the veteran fighters. Link couldn’t say much for the Pokemon Trainer, as that kid was almost always out training, rather then socializing. In retrospective, it was a good habit if you didn’t mind the absence of a social life.

Link shook his thoughts as he kept walking down the halls of the Manor, continuing to itch at his new tunic.

His aimless wanderings brought him into the sitting area. It was a nice place, chairs spread out aimlessly where anyone could come and sit, or rest after a battle. Zelda was sitting in one of the chairs, a book in her hands.

Link brightened up for a moment, his mood suddenly dropping as he remembered something. When Brawl was made public, everyone left for an interview to see if they would be in the next game. He’d seen a few so far; Mario, Peach, Kirby, the Ice Climbers. What he remembered was the people he hadn’t seen yet. Where was Roy, Marth, or even Young Link? Logic dictated that, since it was a past version of himself, he would remember if he’d been accepted into Brawl or not. Sadly, logic didn’t exactly work that way for them.

“You look tired.”

Link looked up from the spot on the floor he’d been staring at, hearing Zelda’s voice. “A little,” he replied. “I don’t think I’ll be doing much relaxing with this outfit, though.” He silently envied Zelda. She has a more elegant and extravagant gown on then before. Why Zelda got the yards of royal silks and velvets, and the Hero of Time given itchy cotton, he’d probably never know.

Link made his way into the sitting room, taking a seat opposite Zelda. She wasn’t alone, Pikachu was situated at her feet as the Pokemon occupied its time with drawing board and a box of crayons.

“Young Link?” Zelda asked, not looking up from her book.

“Nothing. No memories are coming back to me. What about Shiek?”

Zelda paused. A gloved hand moved to her chest as she gripped her dress. “I can’t feel him,” she didn’t have to continue. Due to the release of Brawl, both of them where now missing a part of themselves and made each other feel, for lack of a better word, empty.

Link could feel a lump in his throat forming. Everyone else was feeling excited about Brawl. Everyone else was ready to see what exactly the Subspace Emissary was and which moves sent them flying farther. Being reminded of missing so many of his friends had robbed him of that and it seemed like it all wanted to the surface.

The Hero of Time and the Hyrule Princess where shaken from their own personal thoughts as Pikachu has tugged on his pant leg. Link was at a loss for words when he noticed the Pokemon’s sad expression. Pikachu picked up one of the pictures he’d been drawing, a child-like scribble drawing of Pikachu and Pichu holding hands.

Tears fell from Zelda’s face as she broke into sobs; Pikachu soon followed. Link closed his eyes, a few tears escaping. He pulled the yellow Pokemon into his arms, moving himself to sit next to Zelda as she cried. Both of them needed a shoulder to cry on then and there. Link closed his eyes, letting Zelda and Pikachu do the crying for all of them.

~~~~~~~~~~
This was based on a dream I had a few days back. Pretty much everything in the same as in the dream. The picture that Pikachu holds up differs some, as that is really the only thing I can't quite remember. There are a number of different variations to it, so I only included the two characters I remember most.
This is sorta dedicated to those who's favorite characters haven't made it into Brawl yet. I'm really hoping that they add Roy, Shiek, Marth, Young Link, and Pichu. Half of my most favorite characters may not appear this next time around, and that kinda saddens me. My most favorite characters don't get to make an appearance because they're not high enough of Nintendo's little popularity chart. They where damn good characters and they have no reason to remove them.
And, for the record, I did wake up crying after this dream.
