Maybe
Maybe if I had found myself within the darkness of today,
I could have saved myself for tomorrow.
If I had just gone my own personal way,
Or had forgotten to say a polite hello.

I feel enlightened yet saddened;
Is this the way I should really feel?
My way or attitude is shunned;
Time to just get real.

The misery of other people;
The guilt is overwhelming.
How they can stay so good and pure
How can they stay so white and clear?

I'm happy for them of course-
But I, fortunate one, half-dead.
Served up as somebody's main course.
My face as stiff as pencil lead.

I could groan-I could laze-
I could endlessly moan and craze-
But alas, not a justifiable case.

What is it that I truly want?
A case of chocolate,
A rare plant?

I can't decide what to do,
Help me figure it out,
I trust in you....
