You had always gotten along with him, but had kept the secret. One day when you and the gang met up with Sepiroth, he recognized you and revealed your secret to everybody. Cloud had freaked and was upset, but he got over it and kicked some Sephiroth butt.

Barret Wallace: She's really cool, very friendly. Good for Cloud. Love it how she admires my guns.
