Attend the Tale of Sweeney Todd (my review of Sweeney Todd)
Alright so as some of you know, I saw Sweeney Todd yesterday! It was still in the John Doyle format-that is, the minimalistic set, costumes and the actors also being the orchestra. My thoughts on this? Loved it.

It still had 3 (I think) members from the revival cast! Lauren Molina, Benjamin Magnuson, and...well, I'll fill in her name later, but she played the Beggar Woman. Judy Kaye played Mrs. Lovett! Mind you, you people may be thinking WTFWHO'SJUDY? Well, I will have you know that she was the original Carlotta in ALW's Phantom of the Opera, and the original Emma Goldman from Ragtime, among other things I'm sure. I think I'm the only one on the planet who cares, though.

The boy (name to be filled in) who played Toby was so cute! I want to keep him, but...obviously I can't. XD He was so animated throughout the whole thing, even while playing the violin! Johanna made funny faces. Can't say I blame her. But they were very funny and peculiar. Oh! And the Beggar Woman actually sang straight TO me for one part of the Johanna *counts number of people in it*....Quartet in Act 2. It was the part where she sings:

"Quick, miss!
Run and tell!
Warn 'em all of the witch's spell!
There it is-the unholy smell!
Tell it to the Beadle
The police as well!
Tell 'em!
Tell 'em!"
(Help!
Fiend!
City on fire!
CITY ON FIRE!)

Toby looked at me once or twice too, as did Pirelli.
Also...DAD HELPED ME GET TO TALK TO SOME OF THE ACTORS AFTER THE SHOW BY THE STAGE DOOR! Some of the cast signed the poster we bought! I was complimented many times for my enthusiastic watching by some of the actors. I love to get absorbed in any show I watch. Anyway...I got the people who played Sweeney, Lovett (YES!), Toby, the Judge, and Fogg to sign. We found out later that we had actually sort of...used Ms. Kaye's car as a platform for signing the poster. Ah well-it was fun ^^

Yeah. If you don't want to find out anything-Go. Now.

L'anywhoodle...It was still awesome! In the DVD with Angela Lansbury and George Hearn, they cut out a couple scenes. They're the ones involving the Judge and Johanna. 0_0 So. Creepy. The Judge's "Johanna" was...icky. He kinda sorta gave the impression of inflicting pain on himself whilst keeping his hands between his legs...Obviously it wasn't real, but as far as the audience is concerned, the Judge was playing with himself. So after that the other scene that is cut is the Judge's "proposal" to poor Johanna. It was good to finally get to see her reluctance instead of simply hearing it in "Ladies In Their Sensitivities". There was a little bit of groping on the Judge's part and a lot of 0.o of Johanna's part. Oh! The Beadle is sometimes even creepier than the Judge, but it's close. The prior was shining a flashlight down Mrs. Lovett's cleavage during "Parlor Songs". Fun.

Anyway, no matter how many times I've seen/heard the tragic Finale to Sweeney, it always gets to me. I won't tell the earth shattering spoiler though since it WILL wreck the show for you if you don't approach it with the proper mentality. But yes. The Finale is SAD. TRAGIC. INTENSE.

OVERALL SWEENEY TODD KICKS a**....or rather SLITS THROATS! (aka is the awesomeness)
