I apologize for the lack
of imagination in this card.
Celebrating anything when stressed,
even this occasion, is hard.
You must have pissed and moaned enough
for us to say "Happy Birthday" at your behest.
But the best things with most meaning are tough
for us to know when to say we love you best.
Each day we love you
in some way without ceasing,
Even as your hair greys
and your face keeps creasing.
Thank you for withstanding us,
In our failures and successes.
Kissing our booboos and mending our wounds,
even if we're snotty little wusses.
I look forward to your email drivel
and thank God for you each day.
Hopefully this meager gift of poetry
told you all I needed to say.
