All your base... are being Latin'd |

Hehe... I had a great time at the meet for my school's Latin team. It was last Friday from noon until 1am (I slept until 3 the next day), and was possibly the most exhausting thing I've ever done.
For a brief overview, here's what my schedule looked like;
-noon: Left on a bus (hate), 3 hour ride to the convention (we got lost on the way).
-3:30: Arrived, hurried to sign up, hurried into "togas" (yes, they were sheets; yes they double as ghosts), hurry through "cheer practice"
-4:00: Spirit contest- we challenged everyone ( like the mature, screaming monkeys we are), screaming for a straight 45 minutes. We won (apparently very loud monkeys).
-4:45: 20 minutes, 3 tests
-5:10: "dinner" (translation: classic "school food". Yes, there was "meat sauce". I'm sure the meat was human.) I only ate a pre-packaged Italian ice.
-5:30: 20 minutes, 3 more tests.
-6:00: Assembly- then free time.
Free Time: (how I used it)
1. Halo 2&3- watched a guy I'm good friends with kick a** at the former, and sadly be utterly destroyed at the latter. Loved it.
2. Sword fighting- fencing with my friend (chocolateCastle) with "long swords"- metal poles wrapped in foam. A nose was broken and hands were bruised that night (none ours).
3. "Grafitti wall"- left my name and a challenging message to other schools in purple ink (I'm sure the purple swirly signature scared them in its originality. Go, school spirit, go. Look what creative slogans you make us think up ("we pwn noobs", ext.).)
-8:30: Assembly- a half-hour long slide show, all accompanied by a single, repeating track from the "band" "Crazy Frog". The pain seemed to end as the lights came up, but we were then treated to numerous speeches by about 10 guys who made Bill Gates look like Brad Pitt, nerd wise. Finally, the last squeaky speaker stepped down, and they told us that we won the spirit contest. I believe that we won, in part, because we appeared to be possibly the only team that had a couple of members who spoke in a lower octave then, say, Elmo. We all cheered, of course- because we won and because we got to leave.
-10:00: Back on the bus. I tried to sleep on the way back, but eventually gave up and contented myself with gossiping with a small, rather freckly Englishman who I know. We talked until we got back to the school, occasionally breaking to poke our snoring seat-mates in the nose(s).
-1:00 am, Saturday: said our goodbyes and went home. I slept, as I said, until 3pm, at which time I realized that I hadn't eaten since about 10:30 the previous morning. Hurrah for Latin.
