A number of my recent posts have alluded to the advent of Lithium batteries and how they may impact the market for battery powered electrics vehicles, i.e., either EVs that are strictly electric (BEVs) or plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs).
While such traction batteries also could provide an incremental improvement for “standard” hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs), they, or the advent of fuel cells, are critical to widespread success of BEVs and PHEVs. As previously noted, “a major stumbling block for widespread PHEV acceptance is that for every 10 miles of charge capacity add about $1,000 to your cost.”
It might be helpful to repeat and contribute to the list of Lithium battery vendors compiled by Don Cameron, although one might expect this list to grow as this technology gains greater acceptance and becomes more successful:
