I'm used to arguing about whether or not I have a customer's full social security number (ssn) on file--
Quote:
Customer: "You have my ssn!?! You're not supposed to have that!"

Me: ninja "Just the last four." ninja

Well, this is an actual call I got today. Names, numbers, and passwords have been changed to protect the moronic and idiodic.
Quote:
Me: "Hello, thank you for calling customer care. I see that your cell phone number is 555-555-5555?"

Customer: "You're supposed to ask for my password first. They set it up in my account so that you ask for my password first. I have it set that way because I don't want my number given out to a stranger!"

Me: "Oooookay, can I get your name?"

Customer: "You're supposed to ask for the password first! You know, every time I call in, that's what they do. But sometimes I get people like YOU who don't do it that way!"

Me: *internal sigh and roll of the eyes* "Well, you can give me both your name and your password at the same time if you want, but I still need your first and last name."

Customer: "You are SUPPOSED TO ask for the password first!"

Me: *silent growl and thinks: ********] "Fine, can I have your password please?"

Customer: "The password is IMAIDIOT."

Me: "And your name?"

Customer: "Mrs. Joan Stupid."

Me: "And how can I help you today Mrs. Stupid?"

Customer: "I don't think you can help me. I need to speak to Data Services."

Customer: *gets out of chair and dances--in my mind* "Ok, well, if you don't mind holding, I will certianly transfer you there."

Customer: "And will they ask for my password first?"

Me: stare *flat voice* "I will talk to them first and let them know you're already verified."

Customer: "Thank you."

I sooooo wanted to tell her I had her full social security number, billing/phyiscal address, and home/work/other phone numbers just to see how that'd scare her but, as the saying goes, I bit my tounge and transfered her to Data Services.

Good lord people, if you're THAT paranoid about your info getting out, then don't get a cell phone, don't use the internet, don't get a debit/credit card, and only pay in cash!

Heh... these stories are awesome, though I'm sorry you have to go through the pain of living them before I can enjoy them. rolleyes lol

Actually... I had someone from customer service thank me once...

I was at my manager's house working on her Printer and it wouldn't work cause something was stuck in the printer head... when we called up she had to give her credit card number and then she got a little frustrated trying to explain things to the guy and she gave me the phone and said "Help this brain who won't communicate in simple terms..."

I talked with him about what happened and he thanked me cause he said "You wouldn't believe the number of people who try and describe their problem with 'this one thing'..." I chuckled and then glanced over my shoulder and saw my boss and shut up immeadiately. She asked what I laughed at when I hung up and I said it was a joke he made about servicing printer heads and she "Oh..."

Anyways, I'll shut up here now too...
