The Door to the Mind
My sacred space to post whatever I want. Rants, dreams, experiences and anything else that comes to mind.
Chapter 1?
At 7:50 am, it was only ten more minutes until school started.

He guess he should have been happy that he woke up so early that morning. He had himself showered, dressed, and all schoolwork ready in record time and was able to leave the house much earlier then normal. It'd been raining quite a bit and he was glad he was able to drive his car to school that day.

Even as a Senior in High School, not many people had their driver's license and he had to contend with one or two people in the past who just wanted to be his friend because he had a car. He wasn't exactly out to point fingers or anything. Having a car was much nicer then having to ride in the freezer box of a bus that went by his house.

Even with the tiny flaws his car had, like the fact the fuse for his Turn signals had blown the night before, he'd much rather driven with a heater then in the bus. After all, it had been raining quite a bit that weekend. The forecasters where right about their prediction of a storm hitting the coast, and even with his home city a couple dozen miles inland, the rain still got to him.

Not that he minded about that, either. He loved overcast weather and equally loved the rain. So why wasn't he feeling like it? He rubbed an eye, trying to force himself to concentrate. The instant he'd stepped out of his house, he felt like he'd been awake for two days straight and all his fatigue was catching up to him.

He rubbed an eye again, trying to wake himself up, when his thoughts where suddenly shifted, as did his center of balance. It wasn't completely surprising; he'd tripped on things before. What did surprise him was that someone caught him. The person grabbed him about the shoulders, pulling him back to his feet.

"You should watch where you're going," the person warned. The guys voice was definitely a baritone, though a little gruff.

He looked at the person who'd helped him, at a loss for words at the situation.

"You look tired," the person said, grinning a bit. "Maybe you should have stayed home today?" The person took note of his lack of words. "Are you going to stand there all day staring at me or are you going to head to class? You only have about six minutes."

His eyes widened for a moment as he was shaken back into reality. "Right. Thanks again!" He took off running towards the front doors of the school. He didn't want to be late.

The person stayed in the parking lot, grinning to himself. "Don't mention it, Joey," he muttered before walking off.

((This chapter was based off of some actual events that happened to me this morning. The story is fake, but the events that took place this morning gave me the inspiration for it. It's also much shorter then I normally have my opening chapters. If I ever decide to fully expand upon this idea, it will be longer.))
