Calms me.
It's the only way,
I can be sure,
You're alive.
When you hold me close,
My head on your chest,
I am calmed,
By the steady drumming of your heart.
When you leave,
My heart aches,
And tears fall from my eyes.
I long for the warm smell of your hair,
To fill the air around me,
And the sound of your soft heart,
In my ear.
As I sit here,
Hugging my knees to my chest,
Cheeks wet with tears,
I think about you.
How much I love you,
And how scared I am,
That this will be the night,
When all goes quiet.
I fear that tonight,
Will be the night,
Your heart is silenced,
Never to comfort to me again.
