There was more whistling and I dive rolled, rose and kept running. Another Bolo whistled overhead and I ran some more.

Nuts, how’d they ahead of me. Detour time. Into a thin belt of trees I found, but it was too thin.

-Damn it, I’ve never been trained in hit and run fighting- I thought. –Who’d’ve thought I had to I’d have to put the theory we’re discussing into practice so soon! I hope this works! Hallo shadows! I feel soooo stupid! I am no where NEAR up to this.-

I stopped in the thickest of the shadows, which wasn’t particularly thick and panted hard. I got down flat and stayed there until I recovered my breath. I had to get OUT of here. Unfortunately, I only knew one way out of here and that was back the way I’d come.

2 choices and neither of them good… I could just continue and hope I found a different way out or I could go back and try and get through the Gate again. Heh, yeah like I could do THAT without getting busted. 3 choices if counted surrender. Not an option! Besides, they were all likely to be extremely ticked! Okay, forward it was. I stuck to the trees and skulked my way along the belt. It gave way to meadow/plain filled with long grass and wild flowers… all rustling with the tracks of people coming through it.

-Spewing- I thought. All I could do was stick to the tree belt and follow it back. Unfortunately, it too was filled with searching people.

-Sheesh. I’m toast if I hang about here!- I didn’t know if I could do it but I had to either stay out of their way or knock out the guards as I came across them… Would I be able to knock someone cold?

-Ah, what the hell. I can’t tell whether I’m dreaming or in reality any more, so knocking them cold works for me! After all, its them or me… and I’d much rather it was them!-

I stayed low and skulked around the trees. I didn’t know how far I could make it but I’d give it my best shot. Three guards and some ground creepers later, I come to the beach edge of my strip of trees.

-Good thing I’ve always loved rock climbing. Still, if I climb down those I’ll be as visible as Rudolph’s nose on a clear night. Gotta get me a change of out fit.- It wasn’t hard to grab a change and once that was accomplished I started sliding down the rocks... always in the shadow. There had to be a cave or something I could hide out in. Now that I was here, all I wanted was to get away from those after me… though it wasn’t here I wanted to leave. What I wanted was to explore this awesome place unmolested. The ground quivered and half way down the cliff face I pressed myself desperately against the rocks.

–What the..?! Oh Crap!- a chasm opened up under me and I was free falling. –DAMN IT ALL!-

I woke, bleary-eyed and being carried between several people and none of them looked friendly. They were also a lot smaller than I was. I got a brief glance of overhead and saw… circuitry and a cavern roof? I lost track of things again.
