I guess college changes people for the worse too... |

My friend Danielle has changed a lot since she's started college. And not all of it is great...
Most of it started when she started dating Ben. However, when he came into her life, we were very happy for her because she was finally happy. She didn't have a very good life living with her parents (thus why she moved out before she graduated high school). So when she found Ben, she took a turn for good. She started working out a lot more, she smiled more, and she just seemed in a better mood.
College started, and there was a dramatic change only recently. Pretty much ever since she started drinking.
I guess the first thing that happened was when she started getting multiple jobs. That wasn't bad, but it was how she divided her free time. She would make most of her time for her boyfriend. When my friends and I would invite her to sleep overs or just to hang out, she would always say that she was working or with Ben. Even on my birthday, when I invited all of them over. Nicky had to work, but she came over nonetheless. Danielle was a no show.
Last year during this time of year, she had had surgery on her sinuses. Then I couldn't blame her for not coming to the party last year. She was recovering and wasn't up to partying. This year, she came to sleep over, for one night since she had to work the following morning. But she didn't want to come to the New Year's Celebration at my boyfriend's house. She wanted to spend New Year's with her boyfriend and his friends at a rave. Not only are those things wild and ILLEGAL, but they're dangerous. So my friends and I talked her into bringing Ben down to my boyfriend's house so we could all spend New Year's together. From what I heard, she complained from the second she walked into the door, almost like she didn't want to be around her own friends.
Then came the worst part. Ben, who is over 21, brought alcohol. Yeah, I told him it was ok to bring it in, and I'll take the blame for that part. However, the only reason I took a shot of vodka was so Danielle and Ben weren't the only ones drinking. I wanted to show her that we could all have a good time. The next day, I got into big trouble for having alcohol at the party. Because I'm under age, I could've gotten into big trouble if I'd gotten pulled over. Robert's dad was furious, and Robert was ashamed of me! We fought for the rest of New Year's Day. I've been miserable from that one shot of vodka. That one shot probably ruined my friendship now. Who knows, maybe it's been ruined for a while now.
In reply to her journal entry here on Gaia, I'd just like to say that she shouldn't take so much offense on Ben not being invited back. HE brought the alcohol. Yeah, I asked him to bring the vodka in, but I never asked him to bring it to the party itself. And it wasn't my idea. Robert's dad told us to tell her. And if she doesn't want to come back, fine. I wasn't going to tell her this, but she's no longer invited back either courtesy of Robert's dad. And the rude comments were mostly during "What if?", and it was just a game. Ben was making rude comments too, along with the rest of us. It's just a ******** game!
