It was December and a heavy snow had fallen earlier that night. The city streets were covered in it. A young girl was in bed feeling quite warm. When a voice called to her. The girl lived in a large house with her twin, Mother and Father. This girl’s name was Noel.......... "Noel," A familiar voice said. Noel sat up in her bed. The lacy blue covers rustled as she moved. She rubbed her closed eyes and opened them to look around. Who was it? Noel walked over to her window and rubs away the fog with her white and pink satin sleeve. When all the fog on the window was gone, a face looked through it. It was a face of a young man. His brown eyes were filled with suffering and his hair was auburn but reflected red in the moon's light. The young man stared at Noel for a moment and then said "Noel, Do you remember me?" He touched the window.
Noel looked at the man with curiosity. A gasp left her "Hiro??" Noel’s voice was sweet like the chiming of belles. Noel looked at the boy. He was wearing a leather cloak, baggy pants and matching boots. She couldn’t see his back but was there anything there to look at anyway?
The boy nodded in response. Noel's voice was a relief to Hiro. He wanted to hold her tightly and kiss her tender lips. He smelled the familiar scent of strawberry shampoo. Noel slammed open the small window and let the bitter cold of winter come in. Hiro was kneeling on the snowy roof of Noel’s house and he seemed to be thinking. Noel touched her heart and felt it beating rapidly.
It had been years since they last saw each other. Hiro had left and gone somewhere because of an illness. His parents had taken him away and he hadn't been in touch with Noel for 6 or 7 years. She had thought she would never see him again.
Hiro looked at Noel and Noel reached out to touch his face. He grabbed her hand and pushed it away. Noel looked at him with hurt in her eyes. Hiro examined her silently. Noel haddeveloped in many places and had grown taller. Her blue-black hair went straight down her back no waves at all. She now had dark blue eyes instead of the crystal blue ones from childhood. She seemed to have paler skin and more delicate features. One thing that hadn't changed was her gentle smile.
Hiro started to get up but paused "Come out a bit more and look at my back." He said. Noel poked her head out of the window and felt her eyes widen. On Hiros back were a pair of white, feathery wings. Noel stuttered a bit not knowing what to say. She looked at Hiro with wonder and question. He looked away with no emotion “This is why I went away. The curse of my family. We are all Fallen Angels of God. They were scared that I was getting close to a certain person. This only happens at night after age fourteen. I am also slightly different during day. I have to go.” and Hiro opened his wings. Then he jumped off the roof and flew toward the north. Noel reached out for him “Hiro! Please, Wait” She yelled.
Hiro kept flying, ignoring Noel’s calls. He didn’t want her to be apart of this curse. She was special to him and too innocent.
Noel closed the window that she had opened not long ago. Moments ago she had seen Hiro. He had come back to the city. Noel didn’t know whether to be happy or sad. She had so many questions for him. She wanted answers to them all.
Just then Madison came in. She rubbed one closed eye and groaned. Noel froze and watched Madison. Madison sighed “What are you doing? It’s four in the morning, Noel! We have our last day before Christmas break tomorrow! Go to bed. Oh, Why are you up by the way?” Noel’s twin asked. Noel relaxed “You wouldn’t believe me if I told you.” She said.
Madison sighed “Try me.” She said grumpily. Noel sighed “I just saw Hiro! I swear! He was wearing leather and had wings!” She said. Madison chuckled “Okay, Cool. I doubt that but whatever!” And then Madison left. Noel stood still for a moment listening to her sister go to her room. She then returned to the lacy covers of her bed and fell into sleep again. Soon it would be time to get up and go to school. Would Hiro be there?........
Ch2
Noel felt herself being poked and groaned. Her eyelids fluttered open revealing her navy-blue irises and dark pupils. She rolled over to see who was poking her. Noel looked at a familiar face of who was poking her. The person had the same pale skin, small nose, peach-colored lips and black hair but fell in waves. The only difference was that the person had soft hazel eyes with gold flecks instead of dark blue with not flecks at all.
Noel glared at that person. That person had entered the room a few hours ago right after noel had experienced a visit from her childhood friend, Hiro. The person kept poking her “I get it. Time to wake up.You can stop Madison.” Noel giggled. Madison stood up and twirled in her school uniform. The bottom of the red skirt fluttered. Noel smiled. Her sister posed a bit.The shawl with its large bow suited her and so did the matching long sleeve top.
Madison held out Noels uniform with a grin. The beray slipped onto the floor. Madison quickly picked it up and set it on the side table. Noel smiled “Okay, I’ll be out in a minute.” Noel started putting books into her brown book-bag. Then she quickly put on her uniform and picked up the bag. She ran out of the room and passed Madison.
Madison looked up and ran after her sister. They ran down the steps, racing each other. Noel entered the kitchen first and Madison quickly after. Their parents smiled at each other at the children’s playfulness. Even though they were both fourteen they still played like they had when they were only 9 years old. Noel smiled at her Father “What case is it today?” She asked as she sat down. Madison plopped down right beside her. Noel’s Father had neatly cut sandy-brown hair with the same eyes as Madison. He had mediums sized hands and was quite tall with a average figure. Noel never forgot that he also had a look that said he was tired. He always had a smile ready when need though. His personality was great as well, Hardworking, Comforting and Intellectual. To top that Noel’s Father was a Lawyer and always busy with work. He made time for Noel and Madison both though.
Noel grinned at her Dad waiting for him to answer and he did “Hmm, Some guy was caught drug dealing. He was arrested. So I will be the one that has to try and get him put away for a while or at least try too.”Noel’s dad picked up his coffee cup and drank out of it. Madison glanced at their Mother. She came over and placed some bacon and eggs in front of her children. She had wavy red hair that was always in a green, elastic. Her eyes were azure and sparkled when she was being funny. Their mother wasn’t tall or short but in the middle, Hands were small and delicate and she was slim. Her skin was light unlike their Father’s, which was pale. She worked as a home-mom but owned a bakery down the street.
Noel looked at her twin and Madison looked at her. They immediately dug into the eggs. Madison stopped for a moment “Can I have some maple syrup and ketchup?” She asked their Mother. Noel shook her head “Gross, All they need is salt or pepper!” Noel giggled.
Their Mother rolled her eyes “Here Maddie, Cover them up or drown them. Ignore Miss Plain Jane.” She told Madison. Madison smiled “Thank you!” She said. The twins ate their breakfast and got up quickly but paused to push in their chairs. Noel smiled ‘Hurry, We’re gonna be late. Plus I wanna talk to you about something!” She called to Maddie as she took her jacket form the rack.
Noel slipped her jacket on quickly and then her purple boots with the fake-fur trim on. Madison had the same outfit but hers were green. The girl chose their clothes and enjoyed getting similar ones but still bought different outfits at time. Their parents always said that they shouldn’t think they were the same. The girls didn’t think that though. They just loved doing it. Madison quickly came out and got ready. Noel opened the door “I’m not waiting nay longer!” She called.
Madison looked up “Wait Noel! Please!” And Noel put one foot out of the door. Then she completely stepped outside. A cold window blew at licked at her cheeks. Noel pulled out a hand knitted white scarf with pink hearts. She wrapped it around her for warmth and then put on some ‘Miss Teen’ ear-muffs. Noel felt warm in her fleece lining coat but still felt a shiver. Madison then came out with a grin. She had her scarf and hate already on and not to mention mittens. Her sister handed the mittens to Noel. Noel took the quickly at put them on. Then they both walked toward the school.
Noel smiled as Madison sighed “Thanks for giving me my bag.” Noel said. Madison grinned “That’s why I take a while.” Madison said. She handed her sister the brown bag with a smug smile. Noel looked down “Kay, I’m sorry for nagging” She then pointed ahead. “The schools just ahead. Race ya” Noel smiled. Madison grinned and nodded. There was no ice but lots of snow on the ground so they were safe. The twins ran to the school.
Noel looked back at Madison, who was lagging behind. Then she felt herself bump into someone. Noel fell to the ground and looked up. IT was a boy who seemed to be the same age as her. His face looked like Hiro’s but had blue eyes and blond hair. The boy grinned “Sorry, Noel.” He said. Noel looked at him with question “Who are you? How do you know me?” She asked bewildered. Madison caught up and helped her sister up. Noel stared at the boy “Oh, Lets say we met a few years ago and just recently. I’ll see you later.” He said. Then the boy walked away without even another word. Madison looked at Noel “Who’s he?” She asked. Noel shook her head “Dunno” Snow started to fall lightly. The girls shrugged and went into the school.
