Chap 4: Awakening

I awoke in Prook, the town I was to grow up in. All I knew was that I needed to find a place to stay. Somehow I knew what the town was called, and its layout. It was to be my 'home village'. I knocked on door after door. Sabrina's house was the only one that didn't slam the door on me the instant it was opened. I had a crush on her the instant she opened the door. She gasped and yelled for her mom.
"What is it- Oh! W-why hello. Sabrina who is this?" her mom asked. She had those same electric blue eyes.
"I'm Bryan. I was hoping to find a place to stay the night. If you could point me towards a job so that I might stay at teh Blue Ice Inn, that would be very kind. And Sabrina, that's a, um, really pretty name...." I replied sheepishly as I rubbed the back of my head. I do that whenever I'm embarrassed.
"Thanks!" She looked up at her mother. "Could he, Mom? Please? You keep saying we could use another worker. Please, even if it's just for a month to see if he's any good? I'm sure he'll do great!" she begged, turning back to me.
"Alright. Ryan, no wait, Bryan, I'm sorry. Bryan, do come in. Sabrina, show him the spare room and tell him about our work. Get him settled in, and bring him down for supper. Tonight's cabbage soup. It doesn't taste so great, but it'll do you some good, Bryan! You look very hungrey," Sabrina's mom said as she went to the room I took for the kitchen.
"Come on, Bryan! Your room's upstairs, right next to mine," she said with a smile on her face.
We raced up the stairs, and of course, Sabrina won.
"That was a good try," she began. "This is your room. As you can see, it's not much. But it has a bed, and windows with blinds. That's more than what most folks here have. There's a small dresser for your clothes and personal things. Wait, do you have any other clothes?" she inquired, cocking her head to one side.
"No, actually. I know it sounds weird, but I feel like I just- just appeared here in Prook. Strange, right? Anyway, thanks. So what kind of work do you and your mom do? I can't wait to start, whatever it is! But just to let you know, I'm not skilled in anything... but I really hope I'll do as wella s you think I can!" I babbled nervously. That whole day was surreal, one minute in the lab, the next in Prook.
