XeL's Fortress
The Last Rose of Summer
Amid of the hurling winds and the nonstop snowfall from the Desolate Mountain, I manage to arrive at the Hades Land safely. I’ve been traveling three days and two nights just to reach this land – the land where the God of the Sky promised me to fulfill my wish.

“It has been three weeks and until now she’s still unconscious.” An old woman in a native dress sitting beside the bed of an unconscious girl said to the young man standing in front of them. “We tried all the rituals and we had given all what we can offer the gods and goddesses of Pangu. But I guess…” flows of tears cut her sentence.

“Do not worry,” the young man answered trying to comfort the aged woman. “I will search the whole Pangu and find the best healer.”

Ever since the Soulless Beings started to wreak havoc on Pangu, all of its inhabitants begin to live in fears. Dragon City, Universal City, and Dream Port are the only safest place so far. Almost all people of Pangu started to migrate on the cities. We only gather information about the other cities, towns, and villages through the brave travelers. Our communication with Feather, Sword, and Beast City had fallen. Their light beacons were not responding to ours.

Pangu started to wither. The lands started to look like deserts. The rivers started to dry up. And an unknown disease started to plague the people.

“I’m afraid once the people knew this, they might oust us here in the city.” The old woman continued trying to prevent her tears from falling.

“I will not allow that from happening,” the young man said as he looked into the window. “I will not allow anyone to touch her.”

The plague is said to be the curse of the Soulless Beings to all the inhabitants of Pangu. All pharmacists from each corner of the land tried what they can do to find the cure of this unknown illness, but all of them failed.

“Even when you are sleeping, you’re still as wayward as when you’re awake.” The young man smiled as he sat beside the bed of her beloved. “You make your mother worry much.” He caresses her hair slowly.

And now, my one and only beloved plague this disease – a disease that might cause her death. I am slowly losing my hope that she will be fine. Even the Immortals and the Celestial Gods forsaken us. The inhabitants are slowly dying. But there is only one way to cure her disease. A sacrifice should be made…

“Do you know how much it hurts me to see you there, lying in that bed, suffering and seeing me here, sitting next beside you, and cannot do anything to help you?” Tears shed his eyes and still trying to smile. “Maybe, if you can see me now, you’ll be laughing to death,” he continued faking his smile.

The Celestial God of the Sky asked me in a dream. He said I was among the chosen ones who will serve the Celestial Monarch and help them regain what the Soulless Beings stole to them. He said, if I will answer his call, he will give me one wish but in exchange of that wish I will be… I will become an Immortal.

“Do you still remember the last summer we had?” he said reminiscing their past. “Everytime I reminisce those moments we had together, I can still feel the warm wind of that summer breeze. I can still remember every single detail of it – the roses on the river banks of the Yuan River, the stag beetles we used to catch.”

Amid of the hurling winds and the nonstop snowfall from the Desolate Mountain, I manage to arrive at the Hades Land safely. I’ve been traveling three days and two nights just to reach this land – the land where the God of the Sky promised me to fulfill my wish – a wish to save my beloved.

“Celestial God of the Sky,” the young man screamed fighting the wrath of the winds and snowfall. “I’m here to answer your call.” The young man stood at middle of the Hades Land as the snow storm continued.

“I see,” a voice startled him. “I am the Celestial God of the Sky,” the broad voice continued. “You are among the chosen worldly being to be an Immortal. It is what the stars of destiny tells you.”

“I will accept whatever you want me to do but first…” he cut his sentence, doubtful to his decision. “But first grant my wish.”

“Please…” then tears slowly formed in his eyes. “Please save her…” as the tears fall, it turned in to an ice before it touched the ground. “Save her…”

And so it happened. I know that both of us will suffer but I would rather want that to happen than only she, alone, will suffer.

“You said,” the young man continued caressing the young girl’s hair. “If you could just stop the time, you would wish to be in that time forever.” Then there was a minute of silence. “I know that when the whole world ignored me, only you couldn't leave me alone. I hope you will understand me. I hope that you will forgive me…”

Tears slowly fall towards his cheeks. Then he slowly slid a ring on the young girls left ring-finger saying these words:

“I, XeL Altair, promised to love, Yttria, forever until the day we part.”
