Women are killed because of there gender. There is no justice for them. From the past to the present women in the middle east are persecuted. The main countries for where women are persecuted are Egypt, Iraq, Libya, Morocco, Oman, Yemen, and Saudi Arabia (Bard G). The line between men and women is growing farther and farther apart. Women have to hide and conceal who they really are everyday. Fear of being raped make these women cover themselves in veils. Everyday in Saudi Arabia and other countries women are treated badly and killed unfairly. For years Arabian women have been linked with religion. If a woman partakes in adultery it goes against their religion. Women wear veils when they go into public and if they do not they are subject to rape by men (Alireza). Men have more control over women than women do themselves. It has been this way since the beginning of time. Men are just seen as more powerful than women. In most countries of the Middle East women need a written permission slip from their husbands to do anything; such as getting on a bus, or flying out of the country (Alireza). Younger women have more rights than older women. Young girls have to wear veils the same as older women. This has changed over the years because of cases of rape. Men are abusive towards their wives. Just like in America, Yet the husband doesn’t get punished for his actions like in Saudi Arabia.
Wife beating is technically grounds for divorce, but the husband may seek to demonstrate that he has authority from the Koran to correct and Irreligious or disobedient wife by striking her.
(Bard G.). Women get sexually mutilated in Saudi Arabia and get raped. (Bard G.). The Middle East never take pride in their women. Instead they rape and kill them. If only they knew what contributions women can make. Honor killings have become more and more popular. When Someone does an honor killing they are trying to bring honor back into their family, But it never turns out that way (Jones). They think they gain honor when in actuality they are putting more dishonor into the family. For the women to be killed they have to do something very atrocious like sleeping with another man or something of that manner (Jones). Its very common to have a wife cheat on their husband. Women cheat on their husbands because they want or need something new or aren’t satisfied with their current husband. The reasons go on and on. There are no honor killings in America, but men may kill their wives because they are simply mad at them for cheating. Lots of mothers and families do not want to kill their daughters or sisters, but feel that they need to (Loflin). Amira Qaoud murdered her daughter when her daughter refused to kill herself. Her daughter refused to kill herself for the simple fact that she didn’t want to die. Rofayda Qaoud was raped and impregnated by her own brothers. Amira Qaoud told Rofayda that she must kill herself to bring back the families honor, but Rofayda refused. After Amira Qaoud killer her daughter the brothers went to jail Amira Will be standing trial. Amira did not want to kill her daughter, but she wanted to bring back her families honor (Jones). Amira made a hard decision: Honor and respect of your family or the life or your daughter. In the case of honor killings the person who actually does the killing is the young man of the family. The Male is usually around the ages of 15-17 (Jones). The Family picks the young male because he might not be sentenced to jail (Jones). Some Males are older than the appropriate “killing” age. They want the honor back so bad in their family that they kill right away. The most common is because there is no young male to do the job in the family so and older male must (Jones). In some cases the punishment of the killer is less if it is seen as a honor killing. Judges will and have lowered the jail sentence for the killer because they know it was for honor (Jones). Murder is Murder and the killer should get punished, honor or not. But not many cases are shortened. The killer will go to jail for life or shorter (Jones). For all this darkness there comes a light. Lots of people are trying to help the women in Saudi Arabia and other countries. Iffat, the wife of great leader Faisal, Helped to girls to get a better education in Saudi Arabia. She eventually succeeded and got the girls an education.
In a country where women live essentially separate lives, where they are not allowed to drive a car or appear in public unveiled, the concept of training them for something better than life in the harem led to intense debate.
(Wagner L.) In Israeli a bill is waiting to be passed for women’s rights. It is waiting to be passed because Israeli is not a liberal state and it’s very hard to pass this law. Israeli Feminists argue about the law. The law itself doesn’t offer much.
Either reject your community’s religious institutions and take advantage of the state’s secular courts, or continue to suffer gender discrimination at the hands of the religious authorities.
Iraeli women suffer, Saudi Arabian women suffer, and other women in other countries suffer. They are treated badly and killed unfairly. For honor or for correction, treating another human being with no respect is not right. It does seem impossible to change someone’s mind, but our world should not be this corrupt. Fighting against it is our only option.
