All I really wanted right now was to lie down. The twins were ready, nothing to keep me from returning to my room. I staggered, lurching to the door.

“I’m going back to my room,” I called to the girls and leaning heavily against the wall, put words to action. Fridge said I had a doctor’s appointment but in this condition I didn’t know if I would make it… and what did I do with Ger if I did go.

–Man, I’m a lousy hostess.- I thought stumbling over yesterdays clothes and crashing onto the bed. Things needed doing but I wasn’t up for it. I needed to clean my room, refill my water bottle and a bunch of other minor details but right now I didn’t even want to move. I’d get to it all later. I’ve been in ‘I don’t want to move’ states before. After an hour or so of rest I get up and do what I need to anyway. Right now though, flat was good. I couldn’t even get under the covers.

Shortly, I heard the door close and stirred but didn’t move.

A hand stroked my hair. “I didn’t realize how badly thought transmission would effect you, my dear. I know you didn’t deliberately try to scald me. For today, rest.” He picked me up easily and tucked me into bed. “Escaping the Mother House and all that’s gone before has really done you in. If I could I would call the Healer from Sick Bay here… as it is, you will just have to manage with my personal physician. He will pick up your case history from your local doctor. I believe you have an appointment; put up on the fridge was it? Fine, I will handle everything.”

-No.- I thought and tried to move but I couldn’t. I sank into unconsciousness.
