RP Contest - Warriors Into the Wild
1.) Name of Cat: Alternate Warrior Name (in case you win a deputy): 2.) Colors, rare colors and marking: Beautiful shining rings of silver circle down a sleek gray body, fur almost appearing to have strong tints of blue in it, especially in the light. These rings occur mostly on the tips of her ears, on her chest, down her tail, and on her paws. Dulled ebony spots speckle her fur lightly. A thin streak of silver lines the edges of her eyes, and more stripe across her cheeks, where you can almost see a small tint of pink, like a blush. Distinguishing her from the other cats, a curling design which looks like a white fluffy cloud extends from her upper thigh to mid back. 3.) Attitude and Characteristics: She is very brave and understanding, but sometimes doesn’t know what’s best for her clan. It appears she leads them more to the things that they want and further away from the things that they need. Because she is young, she understands things from both points of view, but cannot always carry out both. Her forgiving nature has allowed her to pardon the medicine cat for the troubles caused by him, but her superstitions still haunt her as she continues to think about the visions. IvoryStar is a very pessimistic cat and will assume everything in worst-case-scenario. This is occasionally a good thing as she is able to prevent some dreadful events from happening. She has a mysterious dark past that has yet to be unveiled, but parts of it seem to be reappearing as events and the visions of the medicine cat unfold. 4.) Male or Female: 5.) Prompt Response:
Part One IvoryStar twisted and turned in her slumber. Visions of violence darted though her head as she groaned wildly. Her snowy claws slashed at the air and imaginary evil spirits promptly passed away. A pasty-looking cat stood before her in her dreams. It appeared quite angelic, without sin. Suddenly, it swung up a paw and pierced IvoryStar in the heart. Hurtling up abruptly, IvoryStar broke from her visions and lay gasping in the chilly grass. She was frightened, but had no time to consider their meaning. It would be today that she would call an assembly and speak in front of all the cats. Today she would explain to them why they had disappeared. Today she would give all the answers. A few kits from the clan tussled in the meadows and IvoryStar stared at them expressionlessly. She had to think of what to say. But what was there to say that wouldn’t sound completely stupid? She was possibly the youngest clan leader out of all of them and this, she knew, would be a great disadvantage. They could proclaim that she was too young and therefore had not the knowledge to be a great leader yet. Past events had given her a less-than-perfect image and no one had any reason to trust her. “Just tell them the truth.” A voice appearing from out of nowhere severed into IvoryStar’s thoughts. It was the young voice of one of the kittens who she had watched play earlier. The other kit sat patiently next to her. Their faces were very focused but obviously naïve. Life was not as simple as a five-word sentence. “They’ll listen to you. You’re the leader; they have to listen.” mewed the additional kitten. “But will they?” IvoryStar replied, making no attempt to sound like the superior. “Will they trust me? Will they be able to understand the truth?” The kittens stared at her like she had just said the most brainless thing in the world. “The truth is the truth. You have to believe it when it’s real.” Leaving it at that, the golden kitten and its white-furred friend hopped off to play some more. IvoryStar still stared at the kittens’ indent in the grass as if they were still there. Only as the blades began to coil back up did the realization of their absence hit her. What they had said seemed to echo in her skull, as if being pounded, pounded into the cracks. Part Two The setting golden sun mirrored off the warm trees, causing the leaves to glow a pleasant scarlet. Below the murky cave cats bustled about, aware of the anticipation in the air. Something important was about to happen. As IvoryStar had finally decided it was about Moonrise, she stood up, her fur beautiful in the moonlight. The crowd hushed instantly at the sight of her. Whispers in the dark crept up from below her but IvoryStar had a purpose and strode up slowly, not concentrating on the remarks. She halted at the highest point of the cavern, towering over all the rest. The silken glow given by the moon had a godly effect and the pack stared in awe. IvoryStar had barely opened her mouth when a gasp swept over the assembly. It was like she was another creature entirely who had just descended the heavens to give a message to the faction. “Friends… I suppose I have some explaining to do.” Some disappointment surfaced on the faces of the cats. This was the first line the Windclan leader had managed to say after suddenly disappearing and creating a complete fiasco? It was definitely less-than-satisfying to most but they continued their silence in case something greater happened. “We had gotten word that destruction and devastation were heading toward us. Instead of allowing my clan to suffer, I decided to transport them to safety until we were certain that the danger had passed. There was no time to send word of our actions. I would have gone myself but the condition of my clan was dire and I needed to tend to my people.” IvoryStar added a pause to allow thought before her next statement. “This danger may still be upon us.” She knew this was risky to bring up but it was necessary in her speech. An expected uproar ignited somewhere in the middle of the mob, spreading out to each edge. IvoryStar raised a paw and the crowd was quiet again. “It may still be upon us, but together, we can triumph over it. We cannot allow our clans to split apart. One clan alone will be vulnerable and the outcome may be even worse than that which has fallen on my clan.” The whispering had finally subsided and a solemn stillness swept through like a bitter breeze of the wind. “It is on this note that I ask you: will you fight with us? I do not ask for your apologies nor do I apologize for the happenings of the past. We must look to the future of our clans. The future of our kittens. The future of ourselves! Join me and fight the evil that blinds us and makes the future seem so distant!” The chaos of the voices was almost unbearable. Cats were shouting, screeching, trying to make themselves heard. One even attempted to climb to the top of the cave to speak but was dragged down by the squabbling horde. IvoryStar sat tolerantly as fights were broken apart and offensive names thrown back and forth started to lose their strength. Instead of raising a paw this time, IvoryStar leapt from her position on the cave to a clearing in the middle of all the cats. Leaders from the other clans appeared to be amused and so allowed their cats to continue shouting at each other. “Listen to me! We can defeat them by just-- “ IvoryStar was unable to finish her statement as a small voice hidden within the crowd spoke up. “How can we be certain that we will win?” All the other cats now stared at IvoryStar intently, waiting for an answer, yet expecting her to fail. Confident that she had all attention now, the stunning feline stared each and every cat straight in the eye. “As I stated before, teamwork. If we are together, nothing can hurt us. We will be more powerful than any badger or other form of destruction.” Cats who had not known of the badger began to question those with more knowledge but were soon muted as it looked as though there was more to be said. “Believe me, there will be more treacherous things to come, and we should be prepared to fight them!” The little speech planned to be a simple explanation had turned into a much-needed smack on the head to many of the wayward cats. “Now then…” meowed IvoryStar calmly. “Do we have a common goal? Will we be able to work together without our clans fighting each other? I do not expect peace at all times, but will we have enough to keep each other safe in times of need? If there is a lack of food, will we supply enough for those who need it instead of forcing them to steal from the lands of other clans? I sincerely believe we can.” IvoryStar bowed her head and began to walk back up the cave. Taking her seat at the top, she nodded quietly and the assembly was over. Part Three IvoryStar blinked only for a second and swiftly jumped off her soft bedding. Fangs sparkled above where she last lay. Pouncing, she clashed with the other feline and they stood claw to claw. “Who sent you?!” IvoryStar panted irritably. “No one.” The strange winged cat sheathed its claws and sat down rather poised. “I did not mean to scare you. It’s dangerous what you did. Speaking like that in front of everyone. Some cats won’t agree on everything you said and may come after you.” “I see. Well I wasn’t made leader for nothing. I will not go down without a fight,” IvoryStar challenged, though there was no one else around but the elegant cat. “It’s what you would have done though, isn’t it? When you were younger?” “Yes, there was a time that I was young, wasn’t there? I do sort of recall it. But you’re the young one now. The world has changed. Fantasies of peace and togetherness do not suffice anymore. There was war even in the beginning. I still remember it…” The old cat began to drift off, dreaming of the past. Her wings moved up and down, as if they had breaths of their own. “Grandma, how are mother and all the rest?” “They are well. Your mother enjoys watching over you. And you father-- “ “I didn’t ask about him!” IvoryStar hissed. She couldn’t care less how her father was. As far as she knew, he was not her father at all. “I’m sorry, I’m sorry! When you said ‘all the rest’ I thought you meant everyone!” IvoryStar’s grandmother meowed sarcastically. Her witty grin then turned to a frown as she remembered the relationship of a father and daughter, how it had fallen apart so easily and could never be put back together again. “He said he apologizes…” The old cat whispered. “For what? For all the bruises he gave me? The horrible names he dug into my skin? For making me live in fear every second of my life?!” IvoryStar hollered. “Well what do you expect me to say, Ivory? He’s my son! Do you want me to tell you what a wretched soul he is? Should I say that I hate him and never want to see him again? Is that what you want?” “Well I’m your granddaughter and he hurt me. He should at least have to pay for that. You should be getting back now. I’m sure they’re expecting you.” “Not before I give you this.” The brown female lifted something from beneath her wing. It was a bundle of five feathers, each one distinctly different. “Can you guess whose?” IvoryStar held up a large feather with gold at the tips. “This must be yours. And this little one’s my brother’s. This one must be mom, and grandpa here. But who is this?” IvoryStar stared at the dappled feather, its beauty unmatched, though it appeared more worn out than the others. “That would be your father’s. He had to go through a lot to get it to me before I left. I know he still loves you, somewhere down in that scruffy ball of fur. Just give him some time. He’s a changed man.” “I just… I just don’t know…” IvoryStar cried silently. “Give him time…” The great cat began to fade, leaving IvoryStar alone with nothing but feathers and an echo. “Time...”
