Not a whole lot to say just now, but I don't want to let things go too long without writing something or other. I'm feeling a lot better now than I have for the past couple of weeks.

I'd had a runny nose for more than a week, but it finally decided to start letting up on Saturday. I went and helped out my folks at the new house for a few hours, and afterwards I had time to go play some pool and have a couple of beers with some friends.

I got home and logged in around 9, if I recall correctly, and started a new room in fishing. Met several new people as they trickled in. The most interesting being a guy that claimed to be a Puerto Rican "Gangstuh" (his word not mine) that moved to, and continues to live in NC, USA. Which is funny because his profile says he lives in Orlando, FL. He was begging for gold, and despite the fact that he's not technically a newbie, I ended up trading him a strength rod for his trash. He seemed to see me as a "light touch," to which there may be some truth, but he left to fish elsewhere when it became clear that I had no intention of simple giving him an October 2007 letter for nothing. Still, considering the strange dickering that went on over the rod and the conversation I got from him, I'd say he earned the profit he made.

He was certainly the most colorful person to enter the room that day.

Later on, a friend joined me, and the the room suddenly filled up with people. I inquired, and was informed that they were just folks that knew each other from fishing. At the time, I had assumed that she'd brought them with her, but she said she'd never met any of them before that night. I suppose she's just a gook luck charm. smile

Yesterday, I spoke to my sister and my niece (Little S being down for a nap) for a bit. The latter conversationalist being ever so brief, due to "The Wiggles." This I have come to expect, however, and so I found it heartwarming that she deigned to speak on the phone at all. I did find out from her mother that she has been making up parts of the Children's Museum that don't exist, but that she apparently thinks should be there. I also found out that she pestered Sis and Bro-in-law about not bringing me home with them.

It seems that since she learned that I put together her Barbie princess clubhouse thingy that Santa brought her, and that I'm the ONLY one who can put it together (because it's a pain in the a** to put together and takes up a lot of room) I have gained a kind of mythical status to Little G. She has fixed up the bottom half of her closet for me so that I can live there.

Needless to say, I miss both of those kids a lot. I do find Little S just as endearing as I did Little G when she was his age, more so in some ways, because I get to see how alike they both are, but also how Little S is taking a different path. He's far more tactile, and he wants to figure out everything for himself. He actually gets mad if you try to show him how to do something he's been working on. He's also mad about cars and trucks, anything with lights, and friction motors.

I also know that it might be a little unfair to Little S as he's only 1 1/2, but right now, Little G has a special place in my heart, due to the fact that I have a special place in hers. The advantage of being a favorite uncle, I suppose. Maybe I should feel bad about it, but I think I've decided that I should just accept that she now fills yet another little place in my heart that was empty before. smile
