Forms:
Homid The Muscion appears as any other human.
Liminal The Muscion retains most of her human characteristics, but her body is covered in a fine layer of fur. Fingers and toes shift to somewhat resemble those of her rodent kin, her ears round out, and vestigal whiskers form. This form also grants the Muscion use of her rodent tail, and her eyes begin to take on the coloration of her animal form.
Crinos The ultimate cross between man and beast. The Muscion's body grows larger and stronger, her face and teeth elongate like that of her rodent cousins. Claws and large ears become more pronounced, and her tail thickens to become a powerful, muscular weapon. This is as close to a 'battle form' as this somewhat reserved shifter can get.
Musculus Indistinguishable from a true mouse.
Abilities:
Legs of the Flea By tapping into inborn potential, specifically that gained at adolescence, the Muscion is able to leap great distances and heights. Available in all forms.
Burrow The Muscion's claws harden, and she is able to dig through any substance short of solid rock face to form a protective shelter. Available to Liminal, Crinos, and Musculus forms.
Hide, No Seek The Muscion's natural dexterity and secretive nature allow her to easily find cover and blend unnoticed into her surroundings. Available in all forms.
Musculus Shriek The Muscion emits a high-pitched squeak that temporarily stuns enemies, allowing for a hasty retreat. Available in all forms.
Tongue of Smintheus Using her most natural grooming accessory, the Muscion can clean and effectively heal wounds she has acquired on her own person. This gift also works well on other Muscions. In the case of non-Muscion entities, the were-mouse is only able to soothe the pain and irritation associated with wounds, not completely heal them (except for in the case of Viral Bite-- see below.) Available in Liminal, Crinos, and Musculus forms.
Nibble The Muscion's teeth elongate and harden, and she is then able to gnaw through almost any non-metallic substance in a matter of minutes. Available in all forms.
Subtle Thief In rare cases, only an act of theft can save the Muscion from certain destruction. This gift allows her to remove any given object, save living things, and have its theft go undetected until the following morning, as a "spirit replica" will temporarily hold its place. Though convincing, this trick can sometimes backfire when attempted on others who are up to similar hijinx. Available in all forms.
Viral Bite In an elusive moment of true aggression, the were-mouse can bite a victim to inflict aggravated damage. The painful physical aspects of the wound mask the true infection in the bloodstream, and the viral effects can include the following symptoms, in any combination and severity depending upon the biter's intent: headache, fever, chills, nausea, muscle pain, abdominal pain, gastrointestinal distress, respiratory problems, severe bleeding from any wound, kidney failure, and death. Modern medicines can alleviate several of these symptoms, but they do little to cure the virus once it has reached advanced stages. Only the Muscion who has inflicted the bite can remove the disease once it reaches certain levels of severity. Available in all forms.
Weaknesses:
Withdrawn Muscions have a hard time connecting on a personal level with any but their own kind. Therefore, work, relationships, and everyday interactions can be a hassle.
Food Like a true mouse, the Muscion will have a hard time resisting tempting tidbits and morsels. Sometimes this borders on an oral fixation, and gnawing on anything will do. Expect to find a lot of chewed pen caps in her purse.
Accidental Shift Muscions are somewhat high-strung by nature, and these stressors can display themselves in a variety of ways-- one of which is the tendency to accidentally go through a shift at the worst possible time. Another reason why they're so withdrawn.
Platinum Unlike most shapeshifters whose metal allergies center around silver, Muscions have a natural aversion to platinum. No one knows for sure why this is so, but the damage from wounds inflicted with this rare and precious metal will be sure to leave nasty scars behind-- that is, if it is not fatal.
Other Muscions also seem to feel uncomfortable when confronted by large serpents, birds of prey, and most felines. The reasons should be obvious.
NOTE: Yes, I created this race, yes I created all of the abilities and their names. It took research and creativity. No, you may not have it/use it. Any such attempts will be considered theft and plagiarism.
