Bombay's Random Writings
Random randomness from the mind of a wierd little person. That would be me.
Vamadeva Owens
| Just figured I'd write a little something about a character that's been showing up in a lot of little stories I've been thinking up lately. None of the stories actually connect in any way, but most of them involve this character and his boyfriend, though this other sometimes changes.

Depending on the story, his age, and a few of his personality traits, differ. Normally he's between 18 and 28 in all of the stories. |

Unchanging Information:

Personality:
Deva is a very laid-back individual; things roll off of his back easily. With a smile or smirk for everyone, he's very approachable, unless you happen to be a part of his family. He's not easy to anger, and most things don't really bother him. However, when one does get him upset, he's very straight-forward, in-your-face, and can even be rather violent if pushed far enough. If he has something to say, he will say it; he can be very open about his thoughts.
When it comes to conflict, if he knows he is in the wrong, Deva will admit it, despite giving reasons for what he did, and will normally shrug off the issue. He doesn't like conflict, and normally will walk out on one that gets too complicated or heated. The only arguements or fights he will become involved in are ones that threaten his own life or those of the ones he cares for.
Despite a cool demeanor, Deva can be quite the flirt and enjoys physical contact. He's not known to tie himself down to people, and is not afraid to show it.

Family:
Father - a filanderer and unfaithful husband, but highly intellegent; he's an alcoholic that enjoys the company of women, despite being married.
Mother - a quiet, reserved woman; she finally left her husband after accepting the knowledge of his infidelaties.
Nalunani - older brother; an ambitious man much like his father, highly intellegent, and lacking in fidelaty.
Lienna - younger sister; a young woman corrupted at an early age; she left her family and became a junky and a prostitute

History:
Vamadeva was born the middle child in a family of three children; his brother was pushed to the limits and his sister babied and spoiled, both by his father. His mother, a very passive woman, did as her husband did, only for the sake of consistant treatment. However, being the middle child, Deva was very much ignored by his father, though his mother made sure to pay him special attention, as if knowing he was the only one of her three children she could raise right, and to her standards.
When he was thirteen, his mother and father had a horrible arguement. His father even hit his mother, leading to the woman packing up and disappearing for several days. Deva found out the reasoning for the fight, and became very angry with his father. He had known about the alcohol, but had not found out about the women until then. It angered him that his father would treat his mother in such a way. When the woman came back to collect the rest of her things, the boy asked to go with her, wanting nothing to do with his father. The divorce that followed landed custody of Deva with his mother, while Nalu and Lienna were placed with his father.
The years that passed found Deva taking care of his mother, who was forced to work constantly to keep food on the table; the money given to Ms. Owens through child support went to putting her son through school. It took everything she had to save enough money for Deva's first year of college. At this point, Deva chose to take the pressure off of his mother and work to pay for his continued schooling.
Shortly after his eighteenth birthday, Ms. Owens was diagnosed with breast cancer. The stresses of her life made the fight difficult for her, and she died only six months later, leaving Deva with bills and debt that his small part-time job couldn't handle. Through will and friendship, he managed to land a well-paying entry-level job with a programming company that allowed him to stay in school and finish his degree. His only complaint with the job was that the company belonged to his father and he was working under his brother, Nalunani.
