My dog, ever wild

My dog, ever wild,
Digging holes in the backyard,
Ever bigger,
Digging deeper,
Until, new earth is found,
Where he lays sleeping, looking , surveying ,
Bathing in the sunlight ,
sitting on the biggest hole he has created,
For now,
The backyard is his,
In his mind, it is forever his.


Unreturned love,
Making it’s way into the back of my mind,
Digging it’s way into my heart,
Releasing it’s venom,
Digging, hurting, burrowing, reminding me every minute,
No rest,
Non-stop,
It stays in my heart and there,
It sleeps,
I’m forever his,
Oh my poor heart,
My unreturned love.
